Too many people have been greatly affected by Hurricane Sandy.  People have lost property, homes, personal items, and even family.  other people weren’t affect by the hurricane at all like me who only lost power for a day and a half.  Makes you realize how lucky you are not to be affected by the worst hurricane in New York’s recorded history.  

One of my friends, Julia lost power during the hurricane. On the night of the hurricane Julia could hear a big rumbling noise outside. Julia had thought the roof of her house had been ripped off.  After the storm Julia looked outside and it wasn’t her roof, but it was her neighbor's shingles that had been torn off by the storm.  This didn’t affect her all that much because she said herself that she doesn’t use electricity.  The only thing that was affected by the loss of electricity was at night she would use electricity at night to read, but she would use a flashlight (or candles) to read at night without power.  So, while the power was out in her home she would go out help with hurricane damage. When she was walking around Targee Street looking at some of the damage that had been caused by the storm she saw a large section of sidewalk had been torn up by a tree that had fallen over from the storm.  Julia also saw a women take some food cans from someone’s yard, the owner threatened the women taking the food. It was sad since the women could’ve needed those cans and even after this disastrous event people still won’t help.  Then on Friday two weeks after the hurricane she got her power back.
