Topic: Breakout EDU is the immersive learning games platform. The Breakout EDU kit allows for the facilitation of games where players use teamwork and critical thinking to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open the locked box. Games are available for all ages and content areas.

Notes:
- UV light can help speed up clues and aid in providing hints by circling or writing on laminated text and locking a blacklight flashlight in one of the boxes to use
- Directional lock - must teach students how each lock works before using the Breakout kit
- Could have students complete a breakout edu as a team building activity and possibly have the students then create their own clues and breakout box based on the content area
- Really neat application in language courses to facilitate interpersonal relationships and communication with the requirement of using the target language and vocab (i.e. stressing vocab in Spanish - lock, key, numbers, cardinal directions)
- Could use as first few days of school icebreaker activity for students - great for student communication and problem solving, but also for teachers to learn the types of students in the class (i.e. the leaders, the followers, who works well with who)
- Adaptable and modifiable to all levels of students (Elem: teacher facilitates as a member of the whole group vs. MS/HS: challenging content related clues vs. Faculty/Staff: team building)
- Physical box still a good idea if we used a virtual break out.
- Ask students to create their own as an assessment of understanding
- Physical breakout kits from Breakout EDU website cost ~$120; can create your own for about ~$80 from ordering own from Amazon
- For Carlisle Area S.D. - contact Christina Cook, we have 4 Breakout EDU kits available to sign out
