Volunteer Survey

Volunteering can be really fun. SERIOUSLY. Fill out our volunteer survey so we can help figure out the best way to make it happen for you.

SOUPerbowl Food Drive

And then there were four (teams)... We don’t know exactly which teams will be playing yet, but we DO know that you can help our community by participating in our 2017 Souperbowl Food Drive. We’ll be collecting non-perishable food items the week prior to the Superbowl for the CT Food Bank. Students will be able to vote for their favorite team by placing their donations in that teams’ collection bin during the week of Monday, January 30th - Friday, February 3rd … feeding our community makes us all winners!  <groan>... I know.

Kindness Month… Still Going Strong!

Listen up... today’s Kindness Calendar entry is “Help someone at home clean!” So don’t miss this golden opportunity… get your kids on board and hand over the vacuum! The Caring Council’s Kindness calendar has a lot of great ideas for the last couple weeks of Kindness Month; if you lost your copy, we’ve attached a PDF of the calendar. Remember: the goal is to spread kindness like confetti through our actions and thoughts in January (and well, always). Share your acts of kindness by sending in a picture or short blurb about it for the kindness bulletin board! You can also email your acts of kindness to Mrs. Locke (rlocke@westport.k12.ct.us).

LAST CALL for K-Cups!

The need for coffee never expires, but we’re throwing out one last request for K-cup donations for the Staff Lounge Keurig machine. If you ever have extra on-hand or feel like grabbing an extra box at the store, our teachers will thank you!

SES Artists At Work
What are you doing in art?” you ask. Here’s your answer… Abstract expressionism was the theme in December. Grades K-1 learned about Wassily Kandinsky, and created pieces based on his famous color study of concentric circles. Grades 2-3 drew pictures with contrasting warm or cool colors inspired by the style of artist, Mark Rothko. Grades 4-5 learned about artist Paul Klee and made their own versions of his famous work Castle and Sun. Visit our updated SES Art Page to learn more!

Upcoming Positive Youth Development (PYD) Programs

Raise Your Child to Be a Resilient Adult

This program will illustrate how helping a child learn to live life on life's terms will build resilience. Parents will learn how to foster problem solving skills and interpersonal effectiveness in their children by using mindfulness and distress tolerance techniques. http://www.wiltonyouth.org
