Global Transition Assistant Application
Dear Global Transition Applicant,

The Office for International Services would like to thank you for your interest in a Global Transition team position!  We have been working hard to make this very new program as fulfilling as possible for both the GT team and the new international students.  We are so excited to welcome the incoming class of 2017 international population, and hope that you are, too!  Global Transition Assistants are the most significant first contact that these new students have when they arrive at Fordham.  As a GTA, it will be your responsibility to make these new students feel welcome and comfortable during their first week at Fordham and, sometimes, in the United States.

Reasons to be a Global Transition Assistant:
Gain experience and knowledge about other countries and cultures and broaden your worldviews
Develop new international friendships
Give back to the Fordham community
Enhance your leadership skills and resume

You are also able to move into Fordham housing early, and will get free meals and a T-shirt during Global Transition week.

A Global Transition Assistant will:
Please take a moment to review the responsibilities and expectations of the Global Transition Assistant, and be sure that you will be comfortable fulfilling these roles.  
- Lead a group of new international students and accept responsibility for this group during the 5 days of the program
- Help with move-in
- Check in students
- Be able to work with a team of peers and administrators
- Attend and assist with orientation sessions and events
- Be a positive role model for new students before, during and after the Global Transition Program
- Be visible to new international students and their families as a source of information during the Global Transition Program
- Be enthusiastic about the program and be friendly and welcoming to all new international students

Global Transition Team Positions:
1. Global Transition Leader (GTA)
GTAs serve as a group leader and facilitator by conducting activities and discussions with new students by actively motivating new students to participate in the program’s activities.  GTAs must strive to develop a relationship with each new student in their group.

2. Global Transition Captain (GTC)
A GTC is a member of the Global Transition Team who has an increased managerial role throughout orientation.  You will be responsible for helping GTAs with any issues that come up, and for helping the OIS staff prepare for events and activities before and during Global Transition week.
