There was an Old Horse
There was an old horse who swallowed some milkweed,
I don’t know why she swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed some pokeweed,
That wriggled and jiggled and felt sickly inside her,
She swallowed the pokeweed to cover the milkweed,
I don’t know why she swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed some foxglove,
Heavens above! To swallowed a glove,
She swallowed the foxglove to cover the pokeweed,
That wriggled and jiggled and felt sickly inside her,
She swallowed the pokeweed to cover the milkweed,
I don’t know why she swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed some sagebrush,
What a fuss! She swallowed some sagebrush,
She swallowed the sagebrush to cover the foxglove,
She swallowed the foxglove to cover the pokeweed,
That wriggled and jiggled and felt sickly inside her,
She swallowed the pokeweed to cover the milkweed,
I don’t know why she swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed a red maple tree,
What a sight to see! To swallow a tree,
She swallowed the red maple to cover the sagebrush,
She swallowed the sagebrush to cover the foxglove,
She swallowed the foxglove to cover the pokeweed,
That wriggled and jiggled and felt sickly inside her,
She swallowed the pokeweed to cover the milkweed,
I don’t know why swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed a bracken fern,
Without waiting her turn! she swallowed the fern,
She swallowed the brackenfern to cover the red maple,
She swallowed the red maple to cover the sagebrush,
She swallowed the sagebrush to cover the foxglove,
She swallowed the foxglove to cover the pokeweed,
She swallowed the pokeweed to cover the milkweed,
I don’t know why she swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed an elderberry,
I don’t think she felt merry to swallow a poison berry,
She swallowed the elderberry to cover the brackenfern,
She swallowed the brackenfern to cover the red maple,
She swallowed the red maple to cover the sagebrush,
She swallowed the sagebrush to cover the foxglove,
She swallowed the foxglove to cover the pokeweed,
She swallowed the pokeweed to cover the milkweed,
I don’t know why she swallowed the weed,
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old horse who swallowed her leadrope,
Well, it WAS tied in a safety knot, so she lived- of course!!
