Reedsburg Area Quilt Guild November 9, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7pm by Kelly Kroon, President

The minutes from August and the treasurer’s report were formally approved. Lecture and Workshop cost update – Total Revenue $1,365.00, Total Costs $1,454.34, with a Net Loss of $89.34
Hostesses were Lynn Butler, Jane Weiss, with help from Linda Kirby
January’s hostesses are Shirley Alexander and Donna Widerquist
Birthdays – Bea Statz, Mary Baumgarten, Jane Weiss, Delores Ellingson, and LaVonne.
Roster – The guild has asked for a current roster of members. I will put it together and send out requests for information that is missing
President’s Quilt will be given out at the Christmas Party
Christmas Party
- Monday, December 14th at 6pm at St Johns Lutheran Church in Reedsburg
- Guild will furnish plates, cups and silverware
- Decorating – Eva Kalin has offered to decorate. If you have any decorations or would like to help, please let Eva know. She is planning to decorate around 5:30pm
- Fat Quarter Challenge – Christmas Fabric
- Gift Exchange – Voluntary - $15 limit. Bring a gift, receive a gift.
- Secret Pals will be revealed
- Take & Make – Kelly Kroon will have a special project for us to make – Pin
- Bring Scissors, Needle, and Neutral Colored Thread
Quilt Show
Quilt Show Ribbons – the top will be a paper pieced "quilt" and the bottom will be the ribbons – in red, white, blue, pink, and yellow. Fabric scraps are needed for the quilt show ribbons. The scraps should be at least 1 1/2 inches square and Royal Blue, Red, Bright Gold or White. Lynn Butler will be collecting the scraps
Raffle Quilt Update
Cutting Days for the raffle quilt are scheduled for
- Tuesday, November 10
- Monday, November 16
- Star Blocks – 18 have volunteered to work on the star blocks
- Quilt will be appraised

Blog Demo
Debbie Ekes showed us what’s new on the RAQG Blog and explained how to maneuver around
Fusible Web Demo
Kelly Kroon presented a demonstration on no-sew fusible using the Log Cabin block. Check out the RAQG Blog, Debbie will be putting out some pictures from the demo. Some of the tips were to use a Decorative Edge Blade in your Rotary Cutter, the release paper of the fusible can be used as a pressing sheet, fusible needs to be a sew thru type, and Titanium Needles. Note: Barb Nelson stated to be careful with titanium needles. She has had problems when they break and damaging the throat plate.
Hexagon Star Tutorial
Lynn Butler showed hew techniques for using a hexagon star template and a petal template. Check out the RAQG for a more detailed explanation and photos
QQ Workshop – February 26-27-28, 2010
Jan Krueger will be teaching the "Midnight-Twilight" Quilt. More info to follow
Bus Trip to Cedarburg – Friday, December 4th
This is the "Christmas Weekend Celebration" in Cedarburg. Visiting 2 Quilt Shops and other shopping around town. Bus will be leaving around 7am and the returning around 6pm. Cost of the bus trip is $50. Don’t forget to sign up.
Tip of the Month
Delores Ellingson – New use for an Emery Board. You can use them when drawing line of fabric. The emery board will stick to the fabric. Great for drawing those line for half square triangles Kelly had a tip for tutorials. Go to You Tube and type in "Quilt Tutorials" and there are lots!
