Parts of the Microscope:

 

Arm- attaches the body tube to the base

 

Base- supports the microscope

 

Body Tube- tube that supports the eye piece

 

Coarse Focus Adjustment- knob that controls large adjustments of focus

 

Diaphragm- opening under the stage that can be opened and closed to allow different amounts of light to pass through the specimen

 

Eyepiece- where you place your eye

 

Fine Focus Adjustment- knob that controls small adjustments of focus

 

High-Power Objective- a lens with a high power magnification

 

Inclination Point- a point at which the arm can tilt

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Low-Power Objective- a lens with a low power magnification

 

Light Source- a source of light for the microscope, some use a mirror some have a light

 

Nosepiece- a rotating device which holds the lense

 

Stage- the flat area on which a slide is placed

 

Stage Clips- the metal clips which hold a slide to the stage

 

Magnification Power- number of diameters larger an image is than the original specimen (example: 5X would be 5 times the diameter larger).
