Directions:

For each word you will need to write a sentence that shows your understanding of the word. Simple sentences will receive zero points. An example of this type of sentence is: My friend is benign. This in no way shows me that you understand the meaning of the word.

 

Each sentence must be at least 12 words in length. Put word count at end of sentence.

1. Amenity (n) - Something that contributes to physical or material comfort

 

2. Indolent (adj) - Disinclined to exert oneself; habitually lazy

 

3. Lacerate (v) - To rip, cut, or tear

 

4. Lore (n) - Accumulated facts, traditions, or beliefs about a particular subject

 

5. Cunning (adj) - Skill in deception; guile

 

6. Precarious (adj) - Dangerously lacking in security or stability

 

7. Protrude (v) - To push or thrust outward

 

8. Inevitable (adj) - Impossible to avoid or prevent

 

9. Elude (v) - To evade or escape from; usually by daring, cleverness, or skill

 

10. Apprehensive (adj) - Anxious or fearful about the future; uneasy

 

11. Grotesque (adj) - Outlandish or bizarre, as in character or appearance

 

12. Arachibutyrophobia (n) - A fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of one's mouth
