f. John: “I would build a giant laser on the moon and then… hold the earth on ransom for 1 million dollars.”
g. Diane: “Is the person giving me the money a guy? --- I would marry the person.”
h. Andy: “I would do whatever they wanted me to do.”
i. Kira: “I would watch a lot of horror movies.”
j. Mimi: “I would go without a fridge for a month… ok for a year.”
k. Yenny: “Hold a cockroach in my hand cause I’m really afraid of it.”
l. Peter: “I’d kill a man – I’m kidding! I’d wrestle a bear.”
m. Jessica: “I would – I would not eat meat for 6 months?”
n. Julia: “I would probably walk or go on a walking marathon for 48 hours without food, just water, with bathroom breaks included.”

p. Lily: “I’m freakishly afraid of spiders… of not only spiders but squishing spiders. Just the idea freaks me out. So I’d squish all their spiders for them.”

s. Tiffany Ornedo: “I’m really really afraid of the sounds of balloons popping – I would cry – so I would stand in a room full of balloons… and just have them all pop. I’d do that.”

v. Jennifer: “I can’t believe no one said this – but I would give up the computer, everything, for 6 months. That’s a lot.”

x. Stephanie: “I would stand in a tub of rats. I hate rats.”
y. Kathleen Wong: “I would go through 7 days of total athletic conditioning class.”
z. Kenneth: “I think I’d sky-dive into a pool of jello.”
i. Peter: “That sounds FUN! Some people would pay to do that!”

II. District Fundraising Initiatives: DFIs are global charities we help fundraise for.
a. ~ Showed a video clip of Group 1’s skit explanation for Starlight Starbright.
b. Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP)
i. Unintentional injury is the #1 killer of children under 14, & 90% of those injuries could have been prevented.
ii. PTP tries to prevent these deaths by paying for doctor/nurse training, paying for hospital equipment, and giving grants to community service groups.
c. Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation
i. Foundation to help children with chronic or life threatening illnesses or life-altering injuries. SSCF runs programs in hospitals such as family activities/outings, in hospital entertainment systems, online communities and interactive websites, in-hospital playrooms, and educational programming.
d. UNICEF 6 Cents Initiative
i. Helps provide clean water to people in Africa. Every 6 cents pays for 1 packet of salt that purifies water enough water for 1 person to survive for 1 day.
III. Group Brainstorming Session: What would be good large/small fundraisers we could do?
a. Walk-a-thon
i. On the Clark Kerr track, at Edwards Stadium, or around a lake
ii. It could be professors VS students/CKI
b. Food sales
i. SPAM Musubi
ii. Smoothies
iii. In-N-Out
iv. Ethnic/specialty foods
v. Bake sale
c. Dance
d. Talent show
e. Basketball game
i. VS professors
ii. VS celebrities. John Moore says his dad works with celebrities.
f. Movie night
i. Multiplex theater: have several rooms isolated, show movies, and have people donate to get admission.
ii. Scary movie night social
g. Eat-for-Service
i. A percent of proceeds that a restaurant makes on a night goes to charity
h. Pumpkin decorating
i. Selling pumpkins for charity and have decorations, like googly eyes, for them to use.
i. A scoop-for-service
i. An ice cream fundraiser where the store doesn’t have to pay for workers that day or something.
j. Auctions
i. Dates from athletes
ii. Celebrity autographs that maybe John Moore’s dad could get for us.
iii. Raffle off football tickets.
k. Origami Christmas trees
i. During finals week, we can make origami and decorate Christmas trees.
l. Battle of the bands
i. Contact bands from around Berkeley that want to get their name out and reserve a room – pay admission to watch bands and then vote on best band.
m. On-campus version of CKI North:
i. CKI North: is an Olympic-like competition where teams compete with teams from other Circle K clubs (like at San Francisco State, UC Davis, etc.) and the registration fees they pay to compete go to charity, only instead of with other Circle K clubs, with other organizations on campus.
n. Easter egghunt for the whole campus. Like a scavenger hunt.
o. Mixers.
p. Recycling drive.
i. Get recyclable items and then recycle them for money.
