ICEBREAKER I (5 minutes) – What is the most exciting thing that happened to you today?
- Jason Siu – 2nd year Chemistry major – “I put three slices of ham in my sandwich today!”
- Airi T. -1st year Undeclared – “I had a pretty full schedule. I had class from 9-12, 12-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-5pm.”
- Claire – 1st year Political Science major (maybe) – “I woke up at 10am instead of 9:30am.”
- Keiko – 4th year Engineering Physics major – “I woke up and finished half of my homework!”
- Dmitriy – 3rd year Electrical Engineering major – “Today I was on the BART and a guy asked me for $5 and I was like… no.”
- Wesley – 2nd year Conversation and Research major – “I was supposed to wake up at 3am to do homework, but instead I woke up at 8am.”
- Monica – 3rd year Applied Mathematics major – “I got to see the sun because I didn’t sleep.”
- Tammy Tieu – 2nd year Economics major – “Today I got an email that said, ‘Congrats, you got the interview!’ I’m still trying to figure out what I got an interview for.”
- Katherine – 2nd year MCB major – “I got my research position!”
- Joyce – 1st year Undeclared – “Woke up early for breakfast.”
- Veronica – 1st year Undeclared – “I was gonna buy Stanford tickets, but I woke up at 9am instead of 8:45am… but I still got tickets.”
- Lily – 2nd year Econ/PoliSci major- “I was tired all day so roommate treated me to Café 3. I WAS EXCITED! I was nostalgic! But it sucked…”
- Nina – 3rd year Econ major – “Today I got my first application for workshops for FTC and it made me super happy.”
- Jonamir – 3rd year Psych/Social Welfare major – “My printer jammed this morning.” (Note: Everyone already knew about this via Facebook.)
- Brian – 2nd year Econ major – “I found out I moved 22 spots on the waitlist for ESPM 15!”
- Ken – 2nd year IEOR major – “I was in E28 lecture doing my chem homework. We were given two formulas and we had to determine things and we had to get all 5 right in a row or else we couldn’t move on. I only got 3 or 4 right at a time, so I had to do it 20 times. But then I finally got it right…”
- Morgan – 2nd year Undeclared – “Nothing exciting.”
- Vincent: “Did you wake up? That means you’re alive!”
- Vincent - 4th year English major – “I was walking to school and it was like a 20-minute walk. I saw this cop car coming my way and all of a sudden this guy comes and a cop pulls over. He’s clean-shaven. (I give up.) He walks up to me and says are you Vincent Lim? And I was like yeah. He didn’t say anything, but then he pulled out his gun – (WHAT?!?!?!?!? The end…………………… ) Anyway. That was pretty exciting.
- Iris – 2nd year Environmental Econ major – “Today I decided to take a nap in Morrison and the guy told me to put my feet up because I wasn’t supposed to put my feet on the chair.”
- Mimi – 3rd year English major – “So right before this meeting, I ran home just to grab stuff for a later meeting. I was hungry because Mondays are usually busy. I’m really tired. I was really hungry and I didn’t know what to eat, this is dragging on forever, and I just grabbed something to eat. It was Didi’s. But she won’t notice that it’s gone.”

RECAP: WHAT IS THE NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE? (5 minutes)
- Responsible for putting together a monthly newsletter that covers all three tenants of our club: service, leadership, and fellowship
- No journalism experience necessary.
- There are currently five different positions. You can hold more than one position at a time, and there is no application process.
- Staff Writer
- Photo Editor
- Photographer
- Section Editor
- Layout Designer
BRAINSTORMING (20 minutes)
Group 1
- “Circle K’ers in Action” – Monthly; page featuring paparazzi shots of Circle K’ers.
- Assign people to take the photos.
- Fashion spread – Feature well-dressed Circle K’ers and talk about their style.
- Do something with the calendar!
- Weekend days can be DVD covers?
Group 2
- “What to wear.”
- A fashion review
- What to wear and what not to wear to service projects
- Give ratings for service projects/socials/events
- Categories: Difficulty, distance, project type
- Include ratings and project reviews from members
- “Cal Kronicle” in the Hollywood font
- Crossword puzzle incorporating Circle K events (maybe upcoming events?)
- Behind the scenes article about service projects
Group 3
- Circle K’ers without make-up/Circle K’ers with make-up
- Continuous comic with action movie endings and cliff-hangers
- Tie in activities that happened that month.
- Advertisement for a CD featuring the families
- Mock advertisements for events/projects featuring Circle K’ers
- Feature important events as upcoming movies or soundtracks
- Make names of events and projects into movie titles/shows
- “Dark (K)night on the Town”
- “Ocean’s 11”
Group 4
- Elaboration of flip animation at the bottom of the page
- Halloween theme – Rise from the grave… and then ATTACK SOMEONE… and eat their brains?!
- Themes for all the holidays
- More member-centered interviews for MoM; front page with their face
- Include “Celebrity Favorites” (movies, playlist, etc.)
- Circle K’ers – They’re Just Like Us!
- Show Circle K’ers glammed up and Circle K’ers in normal gear
- Diva/Down-to-Earth
ARTICLES (10 minutes)
- Use Google document.
- Choose 3 articles for service.
- Choose 3 articles for fellowship.
- Choose 2 articles for leadership/district.
SOCIAL (10 minutes)
This Sunday from 1p.m. to 3p.m.
- Handouts for staff writers, photographer, photo editor, section editor, and layout designer will be handed out.
- InDesign will be handed out.

- Please bring $2 to offset the cost for food! You can also bring food instead.
