ICEBREAKER
If you had to lose a limb, which limb would you lose and why? (“I thought about this during physical therapy!)
- Katherine, 2nd year, MCB – My left arm because I’m right handed. I need both legs for walking!
- Wesley, 2nd year, Conservation/EECS – My left arm because I use my right arm.
- Tiffany, 3rd year, Political Science – I want to say my left arm, but that sounds boring… so my left leg, just because!
- Keiko, 4th year, Engineering/Physics – My right arm even though I am right handed because I want to learn how to write with my left.
- Kathleen, 3rd year, Environ Econ/Conservation – My right arm because I’m a lefty!
- Tammy Tran, 2nd year, IB/Public Health – My left leg because I’d just sit in a wheelchair and I wouldn’t walk anywhere. But I can use both my arms.
- Shivani 1st year, MCB/Econ – My left arm because I’m right handed.
- Karen, 2nd year, IB/Music – I’m going to be boring and say my left arm.
- Charlene, 1st year, IB – I have to say my left arm, too.
- Flo, 2nd year, Public Health – I’d have to say my right leg because no one has said that yet and I can empathize with Diana!
- Diana, 2nd year, Nutritional Science – I would lose my right arm because I want to work my right brain… and I can’t lose my leg because I love working out.
- Mimi, 3rd year, English – I would lose my left arm because I like to be able to walk and I write with my right arm.
- Selena. 1st year – Can I lose a toe? Do I have to lose the whole limb? My… left… arm? I guess.
- Iris, 2nd year, Environmental Econ – I’d lose my pinky… what? You mean like arms? I’ll just lose my head.
“Now you know which limb you can cut off…” – Diana

FINAL THEMES:
Spongebob Square Pants
- PROS: Gender neutral, safe zone, incorporate with other characters easily (versatile), atmosphere is pleasant
- CONS: Too narrow, not broad enough, more for a younger audience (maybe too young), not scary enough
Disney/Villains
- PROS: Good music, kids can relate to these more easily (universal), versatile (a lot of characters), interactive with kids’ costumes, easy for decorations because we are all familiar with it
- CONS: Not gender neutral (more girly)
Pirates/Exploration
- PROS: We already have this ship, skit-friendly and lively (action-packed theme), familiar with kids, interactive (distribute eye patches, face painting), potentially education, scavenger hunt/treasure hunt, name booths after boats, gold chocolate coins
- CONS: More boy-friendly theme (“Do girls like pirates?” “They can be like wenches!” – Monica), pirates were in last year’s theme
Enchanted Forest
- PRO: Giant rocking unicorn, can incorporate fairly tales (easy decorations), little kids can “find their way out of the forest”
- CON: Not as gender neutral, less interactive (than Disney theme)
Clowns/Circus
- PRO: Funhouse style for booths (a la Toon Town)
- CON: There are adults who are scared of clowns, not good for publicity
Vampire
- CON: The only thing that is related is… Twilight… for kids, too narrow, could be incorporated into Enchanted Forest
