Aim of this lesson:
 
To introduce the research project based on student's choice of 1 question (from 6 questions).  For the students to have a clear understanding of the wiki page content and the research skills required to do this work and the time frame they will have to complete their wiki.

  • In small groups, nominate a group scribe, discuss and note ideas of 'changes to the solar system and how they would effect life on Earth'.

Assessment:
 
Observation of students during the lesson and anecdotal note taking of their participation, questions asked, level of engagement, collaboration skills etc.
 
 
 
Any special considerations or contingency plans:
 
Extension work is available for students to add to their wiki.  Other students will still feel successful through participation in pairs/groups with students displaying individual strengths and capabilities.
 
Let students know that the teacher is available for any questions, doubts or fears about completing the wiki.
 
This project allows many possibilities for modelling the solar system, ICT skills, group work, creativity, research and higher order thinking.
