General Meeting

Meeting began with introductions of those in attendance.
Motion to amend the agenda to include Missoula Children’s Theatre under Committee Reports. Agenda approved as amended.
Principal’s Report
- What we are focused on here at Bay View; Teaching & Learning
- Coherence model—alignment from the district level to the student
- At the student level—support every single student
- SIP—School Improvement Plan
- DIP—District Improvement Plan
- Strategic Plan (teach/learn; work with communities)
- How parents can help: ask questions of your student; communicate with teacher

Money Requests from Teachers
A new form is being used for these requests. Forms are available at the Family Involvement Coordinator’s desk.
PTA Membership
People who wish to support PTA by being members can still sign up. $10 fee per person.
Committee Reports
- Bingo—a success. Approximately 200 people attended.
- Pumpkin Carving/Harvest Party—Thursday, October 29th 6:30-8:00. Pictures available $2; cake walk; bring already cleaned pumpkin to carve (no knives); bring glow stick/battery candle
- Book Fair—November 19-25; before and after school and during conferences.
- Student Directory—turn in forms as soon as possible to be included.
- Lost & Found/Clothing Closet—check the lost & found! Clothing for girls is needed for the district Clothes Closet located at Bay View.
- Easy Money—adding My Coke Rewards and eScrip. More info later.
- Share the Holiday Spirit—last year 16 families were served.
- Art Enrichment—7th grade will be making masks in December. More help and ideas needed for other grades. 4th grade will do basket weaving; 8th grade will have photography.
- Eagle Wear—looking at possibility of a new design; maybe add car magnet
- Reflections—January 12th; theme is Beauty Is…; more info coming soon.
- School Store—more adults are needed to pop and sell popcorn on Fridays from 11-1:30; money goes toward 8th grade promotion.
- Missoula Children’s Theatre—February 22-27, 2010; Rumpelstiltskin; help is needed for audition supervision, pizza party, performance day ticket sales, etc.
Magazine Sale
ASB fundraiser October 15-28; educating students regarding the purpose of the fundraiser and placing less emphasis on prizes.
Playground
Money was raised at the spring auction to purchase playground equipment but more is needed. A new committee will be formed to look into equipment, prices, grants, and options.

Family Involvement Coordinator Report
- Background checks need to be done every two years—make sure you are current.
- List the number of hours you volunteer in the back of the Visitor Sign In binder.
Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC)
The CAC acts as a liaison between the Burlington-Edison School District and the community. Each school in BESD has 1 or 2 representatives. BV reps are Joy Rawls & Josh Greenberg.
