Radian6 guide for N00bsCONFIGURATIONStart at the Configuration page. There are 3 tabs:
- Topic Profile Details
- Keywords and Keyword Groups
- Influencer EQ Ratings
Start at Topic Profiles. Click to add a new one and enter a name.

Use the "Filter by..." options to filter according to any broad criteria like language, media, or region. (We won't really use these much.) You can always come back and change these later.

Navigate to the next arrow down (Keywords and Keyword Groups) and click Add Keywords. Type in your keyword in the blue box (it's not ACTUALLY blue) and click preview. If you want to avoid certain words that keep appearing in your preview, click the plus sign next to the blue box and change "contains" to "does not contain".

Like such. Then click Preview and Done to add your keywords to your profile. You can also add additional keywords by using the + sign and keeping "contains". You'll then be filtering posts according to BOTH keywords at once (trippy, I know).

Ignore the last arrow called Influencer EQ Weightings (I don't think we'll need 'em - maybe when we get more advanced).
You can use the other choices under Configuration for further filtering (source filters) or setting email alerts (alerts) but for now we'll move on.
DASHBOARD
The tools on the dashboard I think will be the most useful to start are the Conversation Cloud and River of News. Let's start by clicking on the Conversation Cloud icon.

First give your convo cloud a spiffy title (top blue box), then select the profile you want to use and click the + sign. Choose a time period in the bottom blue box and click Done.

As you can see, BUNNY is by far the most popular word in the search. With a more complex topic, this tool is useful to find new key words that may keep coming up in your searches (or words you DON'T want to see that keep coming up). You can go back to the
CONFIGURATION page to change your keywords accordingly.

Now let's look at the River of News.

Just like with the Convo Cloud, do the deal with a title, transfer the profile you want, and select a time period. Click Done...

And voila! A veritable River of News. It includes whatever media you let filter through in the Profile, including Tweets, blog comments, and media articles. Try clicking the workflow button at the bottom of the screen...

...and you can do all sorts of things from assigning an item for followup to another user to classifying and adding tags. I read an article from
Webtrends that they're working on integrating SalesForce directly with Radian6 to assign sales lead directly from the two. Very cool.
