You will earn four grades for this project.

1. Team Presentation Grade
1. Based on oral presentation of argument, quality of rebuttal, outcome of debate.

2. Team Research Grade
1. Based on written (2-3 pages) brief of arguments/counterarguments
2. FCA’s

• 65% -- Quality of research and writing
• 25% -- Organization of argument
• 10% -- Properly formatted Works Cited page

3. Individual Flow Sheet Grade

• Based on individual analysis of your opponent’s article

4. Teacher Evaluation Grade

• Based on teacher observation and attendance

Jury Evaluation guidelines:  remember that you are not voting based on which side you agree with – your vote should be based on the quality of argument each side puts forth.

The winning side should

1. Present the more organized argument
2. Present the more in-depth research
3. Demonstrate better rebuttal skills
4. Demonstrate the more polished presentation skills
5. Evaluate on 10 point system
1. Each category has 10 points available, assign each side points based on their performance in that category (i.e. 6-4, 7-3 , etc.)

Resolved:  That public high schools in the United States may subject any student to drug or alcohol tests during the school day.

Resolved:  That the state of Massachusetts should raise the high school dropout age to 18.

Suggestions:
