Quick Registration Guide for APSCUF-KU Delegates blog on WordPress.com

Here is a quick guide to signing up for a blog through WordPress:


1. You will receive an email that begins like this:
Howdy ________,
 
You have been invited to create a free WordPress blog.  To accept this invitation, visit
http://wordpress.com/invite/43f705038b505aab7f121e5c054a1786

2. Click the link.

3. You will then be taken to a page titled "Get your own WordPress.com account in seconds"
  • Create a username and enter it into the first box
  • Create a password and enter it into the second box
  • Reenter your password into the third box
  • Enter your email address in the fourth box
  • Click the box next to "Legal Flotsam"
  • HERE IS THE IMPORTANT STEP!!
    • DO NOT click the first button next to "Gimme a blog!" (it will probably already be clicked)
    • CLICK the button next to "Just a username please.
    • If you do not do this step, not to worry.  It just means that you will create your own personal blog.
      I will be able to add you manually.
  • Click NEXT at the bottom left of the page

4. The next page will be titled "Check Your Email to Complete Registration"
    (there are instruction on the page that tell you what to do if you do not receive an email)

5. Check your email.  You should receive an email like this:

Thank you for signing up with WordPress.com. To activate your newly created account, please click on the following link:

6. Click the link to activate your account.

7. You should be taken to a page titled "Your account is now active!"

8. Go to our blog page at <http://******.wordpress.com/>

9. Log in by going to the "Log in" link in the "Meta" box (under the calendar on the right)

10. You will now be taken to your "Dashboard" where you can create a post and many other things. 
     Note that you do not have to log in to leave a comment on someone else's post...you can go right to
     the blog page and click "Comments" at at the bottom of the post (if no one has left a comment left, it will
     say "No comments".  Click that instead.
