YOU are responsible for keeping track of assignments and due dates. These are available on my website. You can access it using the address above, OR by going to the SHS website ->Academics ->Math ->Teachers->Jan Salisbury

 

 

   

 

Assignments:  15% of grade

 

• Effort Odds:  (10 points each)
  • Assigned:  First day of section. 
  • Score:  Based on completeness.
  • Use:  Figure out what you know and don’t know after the lesson. 

    Maybe even pick up a bit on your own.

 

• Do:  All problems before you walk in class the next day.
  • Copy original problem
  • Show all steps
  • Provide Answer
  • Put in your best effort, but if you get stuck use solution manual or http://calcchat.tdlc.com/free_solutions/main.html or http://www.midnighttutor.com/
  • Circle the problem numbers of questions that you have trouble with.
• Process  (We will use multiple methods of assessing)
  • Create homework tally on board based on problems that you circled.
  • Teacher will go over tallied problems after entry task.

OR

• Discuss circled problems in study teams – as a team select one problem to be worked. Team captains write problem on the board.
• ET POINTS for working out a ‘board’ problem correctly
  • Have assignment out on desk while you are completing the ET
    • Teacher will stamp based on completeness.  (All or nothing.)
    • Late odd assignments will be given 70%.  (Max 2/chapter)

      (Must be turned in before the test.)

 

 

• Ø  What You Should Know Evens:  (There might be odds mixed in.)  (10 points each) WE WILL START on THE NEXT SECTION of NOTES BUT YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO TURN evens IN UNTIL THE SECOND DAY!

  o   Assigned:  FIRST day of section. 

  o   Score:  Based on correctness.

  o   Use:  Check what you are retaining.  (Like a take home quiz.)

  ·         Do all problems before class the next day.

  ·         Copy original problem

  ·         Show all steps

  ·         Provide Answer

  o   Correction/Turn in:

  ·         Teacher will give answers and you will correct your own paper with a highlighter OR we will use another method of grading your evens.

  ·         Calculate percent and put it at the top of your paper.

  ·         Turn in Effort Odds Assignment along with What You Should Know Evens Assignment

  ·         Teacher will enter score and pass assignments back to you the next day.

  o   Redo:

  ·         When you get your WYSK Evens Assignment back you can redo the problems on a separate sheet of paper and have a chance at replacing the score with up to a 70%.  You can come in any time before the test, get help on problems you don’t know how to do, correct missed problems and receive 70%.  (WYSK Even Assignment correction can also earn FUDGE!)

  ·         Please make sure to attach the PINK redo page to your WYSK Evens

   

   

Absent Work:  Turn in any absent homework into the inbox within 2 days of absence.

 

 

 

Fudge:  % added to Semester Grade

Generally speaking this is a way to be recognized for going the extra mile. 

Tests/Projects:  85% of grade

 

Top 10% of students               à  5%

      Top 11% to 25% of students  à 4%       

      Top 26% to 50% of students  à  3%

Too many tardies, cell phone citations, or behavior issues will result in a LOSS of FUDGE (participation points) up to 3%

 

• Chapter Tests: 

(100 points each)

• Retake. 
  • Must have all Effort Odd Assignments = 100%
  • Must’ve redone all WYSK Even Assignments that you scored less than 70% on.
  • Must have corrections to original test = 100%
  • (Be sure and attach your yellow CORRECTIONS form to your test)
  • Must be taken on a prearranged day within one week of original test.
  • Score:  You can earn up to half your points back or up to a 70%; which ever is more advantageous.

 

• Absent Students: 
  • May get a copy of the original test for additional study purposes.  (Must be completed before “retake”)
  • Retake will be the only opportunity to take the test. 

 

• Projects:

My two pet peeves:

1) Be a CLASS ACT.  I have zero tolerance for name calling and/or put downs. All conversation is to be ‘G’ rated. Any put downs or inappropriate language will result in an automatic 15 minute detention during lunch.  Failure to complete your 15 minutes also results in a 5 point deduction. Respect yourself, others, and the environment you work in.

 

2) Be ready to work.  BE IN YOUR SEAT WHEN THE BELL RINGS and start on the entry task. Be aware that each tardy costs you 5 points. This can cause you to drop a full grade if you accumulate too many tardies! I detest the cattle herd approach to lining up before the bell rings.  Please remain seated until I dismiss you. Do not pack up early (unless you want to spend lunch in my room!)

3)  I AM A CELL PHONE FREAK – YOU USE IT – YOU LOOSE IT!*

      *If you have your cell phone out during an exam you automatically receive a zero on your exam.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

*PLEASE NOTE – IF YOU MISS MORE THAN 12 DAYS it is not likely that you will pass! 

*For unexcused absences, all missed work will be given a grade of zero.

*For every excused absence 3 points will be taken off your grade due to loss of participation points.

*For every tardy, missed detention, and unexcused absence, 5 points will be taken off your grade.
