Psa 143:1-12  A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O YHWH, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.  (2)  And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.  (3)  For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.  (4)  Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.  (5)  I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.  (6)  I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.  (7)  Hear me speedily, O YHWH: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.  (8)  Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.  (9)  Deliver me, O YHWH, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.  (10)  Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my Elohim: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.  (11)  Quicken me, O YHWH, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.  (12)  And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

 

Listen Up!!

 

Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 

 

Psa 143:7  Hear me speedily, O YHWH: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

 

We reap what we sow..

 

Will YHWH hear us if we don't hear (listen) to one another???

 

Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; YHWH is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

 

Ecc 7:21-22  Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:  (22)  For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

 

Maybe people say things we don't like to hear because we have spoken things without thinking of other's feelings!

 

Pro 18:13  He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

 

Pro 12:15  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. 

 

 

1Co 3:16-17  Know ye not that ye are the temple of YHWH, and that the Spirit of YHWH dwelleth in you?  (17)  If any man defile the temple of YHWH, him shall YHWH destroy; for the temple of YHWH is holy, which temple ye are.

 

YHWH can even speak through a donkey!

 

Num 22:20-31  And Elohim came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.  (21)  And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.  (22)  And Elohim's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of YHWH stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.  (23)  And the ass saw the angel of YHWH standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.  (24)  But the angel of YHWH stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.  (25)  And when the ass saw the angel of YHWH, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.  (26)  And the angel of YHWH went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.  (27)  And when the ass saw the angel of YHWH, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.  (28)  And YHWH opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?  (29)  And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.  (30)  And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.  (31)  Then YHWH opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of YHWH standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

 

Mar 4:9  And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

 

Strife & Division come because people don't (won't) take the time to listen to one another!

 

2Co 12:20  For I fear, lest when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

 

1Co 1:10-11  Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Master YHWSHUA Messiah, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.  (11)  For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

 

We are too busy thinking about ourselves and our selfish desires to listen to anyone else. We are literally consumed!

 

Pro 15:1  A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

 

Pro 15:23  A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

 

Pro 26:4  Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

 

1Co 3:3  For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

 

Gal 5:18-25  But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.  (19)  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  (20)  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  (21)  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of YHWH.  (22)  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  (23)  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  (24)  And they that are Messiah's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  (25)  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

 

Jas 3:13-17  Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  (14)  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.  (15)  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.  (16)  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  (17)  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

 

Not just listen.. but hear!

 

Pro 5:1-13  My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:  (2)  That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.  (3)  For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:  (4)  But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.  (5)  Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.  (6)  Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are movable, that thou canst not know them.  (7)  Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.  (8)  Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:  (9)  Lest thou give thine honor unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:  (10)  Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labors be in the house of a stranger;  (11)  And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,  (12)  And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;  (13)  And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

 

Pro 1:5  A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

 

Pro 1:8  My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

 

Pro 4:1  Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

 

Pro 4:10  Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

 

Pro 13:1  A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

 

Col 3:21  Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

 

Don't hear what YOU WANT to hear.. but genuinely try to hear what the other person is saying.

 

Pro 8:5-7  O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.  (6)  Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.  (7)  For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

 

How to listen better...

 

Pay attention to the person you are speaking with... Not everything around you...

Don't guess what the person is going to say.. Listen to them!

Let the speaker finish before you begin to talk.. Don't interrupt! Count to 5

Listen patiently.. Don't think about what your response is!

Ask questions - What I hear you saying is...

Respect the other person's opinions.. even if you disagree with them!
