Follow these steps to provide instruction for students on the topic of "How to Separate Mixtures"
- Have students complete a Think/Pair/Share on the Methods of Separation
- As a class, brainstorm various types of separation,
- Use these to develop general headings to be used in student generated Fish Bone diagram
- Discuss the concept of Fish Bone diagrams with class
- Provide an example of a blank diagram, and a completed diagram
- Provide students with blank copy of Fish Bone diagram, have them add General Headings student previously developed, then have students with their partner each complete their own diagram
- When diagrams are complete, provide students a copy of the information sheet "How to Separate Mixtures"
- As a class, complete smart board activity on Separating Mixtures
