Introduction to Digital Imaging Patrick Keough Instructor This course is taught on the Moodle course management platform and introduces students to the use of the computer, scanner and digital camera as tools for solving visual problems and creating unique digital images. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of computer imaging literacy, art, digital photography and design through digital image manipulation and concept development. Students are encouraged to develop innovative and creative solutions to problems assigned, in addition to developing a personal and unique style with their digital work. Any image manipulation software may be used as long as students can execute the assigned imaging projects. I will guide you up the learning curve of Adobe Photoshop (or similar imaging software like Photo Elements) and hopefully help you create ART with this amazing and very powerful tool. We will begin with the most basic theory and technical applications and move towards more advanced and sophisticated theory and imaging techniques and concept development. Here are some examples of student past work. I look forward to exploring the creative process with you using the computer as our tool to create artistic and unique images.
Please remember this is an online class and it will be up to YOU to take advantage of the various instructional resources (tutorials, web links, video's and podcasts) I'll make available for you to learn the TOOLS and APPLICATIONS needed to help you succeed in this class.
