AZUSA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY THEATER PRESENTS
AUDIENCE FAVORITE THE PHILADELPHIA STORY
Azusa, CA –Comedy and love make a head-on collision on the Azusa Pacific University Theater stage when they present the play The Philadelphia Story, opening October 29, 2009.
The Philadelphia Story is Philip Barry’s classic romantic comedy that became famous when it was turned into a film starring Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart in 1940. It is the story of a recently divorced woman who has always been put on a pedestal and worshiped from afar. She has never let her foot slip and expects everyone to share her high standards. While being pursued by her fiancé, a reporter, and her ex-husband, she discovers what it means to be a human who can give love to others and accept it in return.
“Simply put, this show is a lot of fun. It has one of the greatest scripts in the romance comedy vein, and is the inspiration for a lot of movies you see today. See the show with your family, with your friends, with a date - they'll all love it!,” says Bart McHenry, Chair of the Theater, Film and Television Department at Azusa Pacific University.
The whole community is invited to attend this fun-filled evening of theater, directed by Erin Gaw and rated A for All Audiences. Shows run October 29–31, November 5–7 at 7:30 p.m. and October 31, November 1, 7 & 8 at 2 p.m.. at the Azusa Pacific University Black Box Theater on the West Campus of Azusa Pacific University.
