      2. Stay at least thirty minutes of event
  1. Nissi (Vice Coordinator of Programming)
    1. Fall Speaker
      1. Have not met with programming committee since planning for Black Family Reunion
      2. Faxed paperwork with Shadra’s signature for Cahn Auditorium
      3. Pre-event reception
        1. Either front lobby of McTrib building or Tech faculty lounge
          1. Depends on what kind of event we want it to be
          2. With the latter, distance may or may not be a problem. Consider the hour between reception and event
          3. Marrion: McTrib best because it is not as fancy, but by the same token, past events have been held here
          4. Nissi: Concern is not the number of people but his personality. It’s supposed to be a dinner, and they have tables in Tech’s faculty lounge. People could walk up to him but in a more controlled way. In McTrib we would only be able to serve hors d'œuvres (sp?)
          5. Shadra: People who are about to speak usually don’t want a lot to eat
          6. Marrion: Hors d'œuvres probably would be best
    2. General Meeting
      1. Hard to get in contact to have joint Alianza meeting but at next Exec meeting we will have information
      2. Marrion: We should have it at Norris because people are starting to become more interested in FMO. Initial plan to have a social with Alianza. In Norris we could get a room with enough seats for people to come, nothing big
        1. Camille: Class of 2013 at a lot of events. Would look professional at Norris
        2. Nissi: Will reserve room
        3. Shadra: You have to pay for food at Norris though
    3. Debrief Black Family Reunion
      1. Successful event

      1. Thank you to those who contributed and helped out. Doors were supposed to be open at 12 PM but were not until 1:30 PM. Lot of positive feedback. Hopefully, in the future alumni will come out. Shadra suggested that we should send out physical invitations to alumni.
    1. Dallas did a good job on the black student handbook and one for satellites and affiliates
  1. Beth (Vice Coordinator of External Relations)
    1. Beth absent due to illness. Marrion: Black Church and Business fair still on. Not many churches expected to attend. Event from 2 PM to 4 PM Saturday, October 3, 2009. All those helping should be at Parkes Hall at 12 PM.

Police to create a booklet/brochure about what to do when you’re stopped by the police and who to contact if you suspect profiling. Also, we are going to add a page to the Black Student Handbook about what to do if you feel like you’re being profiled.
  2. Tyris (ASG Senator)
    1. Senate has not started yet
    2. Big Bite on Sunday
      1. Go to downtown Evanston and get free samples from restaurants. Enter in a raffle to win $100
    3. This year to get a lot of legislation passed pertaining to the black community. Will research how to get FMO more money as a group for minorities. A big issue in the spring. To the people in ASG it makes no sense. Their current way of doing things is not fair to certain groups.
    4. Email minutes or summary to Kristin about committees
  3. La Donna (Secretary)
    1. Membership forms
      1. Reapply for membership

    2. The name of Minorities in the Pursuit of Law (Pursuit) has been written in other areas, including the Constitution, as Minorities in the Pursuit of Careers in Business and Law. UBMA was formed and name changed. Should be expressed as Minorities in the Pursuit of Law.

    1. Constitution review should be at second general meeting, not first
      1. To be ratified by second Thursday in November
      2. Ayanna: Set of rules about how to outline FMO and the Constitution

        1. Francesca: Yes
      4. Kellyn: What might I need to do as part of PAC’s role?
      5. Kristin: What will publicity committee be doing?
      6. Marrion: Last year we had posters and we should have more than one design. Put in places where people frequent, i.e. Norris.
      7. Nissi: In the future, we should plug at other schools for this. Publicity is important. Make sure we go really hard this year because last year a lot of people came because of the controversy with Jeremiah Wright, but now we don’t have that to lure people
