Dr. Laura Pawlow, an assistant professor of psychology, was recently named the 2009 Great Teacher by the Alumni Association.  Dr. Pawlow will serve as the August commencement speaker.  She was interviewed about being selected as the Great Teacher.  Click here to read the complete story and view her interview video.

Melissa Schaeffer (BS '01) and Nick Hartwig (BS '03) first met through Melissa's roommate, Anne Ulrich (BS '00, MSED '02).  A year later, Melissa was working as a student trainer for the men's basketball team.  After many ankle tapes for Nick's weak ankles, he asked her out.  Melissa and Nick were married in May 2004 at St. Mary's church in Edwardsville.  They currently live in Madison, Wisconsin and have two beautiful daughters.  Read more of their story at the SIUE Love Connection page.
