Graduate and Professional Students Appreciation Week : (GPSAW - 2009)

November 7th 2009 to  November 14th 2009

Join this national celebration of highlighting the achievements of graduate students and their impact on the intellectual, social and all-encompassing development of the society. We recognize that after four long years of undergrad education, when a person picks up his or her books again to pursue the timeless tradition of Einstein, Nobel and Chomsky, it is not an easy path he or she chooses. We plan to highlight the achievements our graduate and professional students community, and send out a big “shout out” to them.

Data Analyst Needed -- Paid Position

The Strategic Communications and Public Relations Center (SCPRC), directed by Professor Jerry Swerling, is seeking a data analyst for their biennial survey (currently in the field; next iteration in Fall 2011) of communications/PR practioners. We hope to identify someone in in their first or second year of a PhD program so that he or she can manage data analysis of the next study or two (in 2011 and 2013).  Training and transitioning of responsibilities will begin this semester (no later than November 15th).

To do this job, you need to have strong basic statistical skills; mainly you need to be able to run descriptive statistics and be very comfortable managing databases (especially using SPSS and Excel).  The current data analyst will be training you and will be able to work with you throughout the remainder of this year.  The time commitment is very sporadic (busy sometimes, light at other times), but overall the workload is very manageable.  Strong oral and written communication skills a must; experience in comparable research a plus.

Interested individuals should email Janel Schuh at
schuh@usc.edu.  For more information about the SCPRC, go to http://annenberg.usc.edu/CentersandPrograms/ResearchCenters/SPRC.aspx

Zimride makes it  easy to share the seats in your car or catch a ride with fellow USC colleagues and friends.

Add your ride offer or request now: http://zimride.usc.edu

It's simple. Have a car? Split the costs by driving fellow USC colleagues. Don't have a car? Find a commute partner.

With Zimride you can also check out the profiles of your colleagues before you share the ride.

Add your ride today: http://zimride.usc.edu

Add your daily commutes by November 30th and you’ll be entered to win a $50 gas card.

Thanks for making a more sustainable, social and fun form of transportation for our community!
