SOCIETY OF HISPANIC PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS (SHPE) is a National organization. The Florida International University chapter has been promoting Hispanic culture and opportunities for Hispanic students for all Science, Technology, Engineering and Math majors. It is a student-led organization that has earned respect by working professionally while keeping the feel of a big family. Don’t let the name of our organization mislead you: The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is an all-inclusive organization. Our membership has a diverse mix of Hispanic and non-Hispanic students, internationals and residents, and all STEM majors. Every FIU student who has an interest in one or more facets of Hispanic culture can reap the benefits of the organization!

SCHOLARSHIPS AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Even though finding the right job after graduation may not be on your mind right now, SHPE gives you the opportunity to learn about the work force and even meet representatives from a company you might be interested in. Also, if you become a SHPE member, recruiters will come to you. You will have co-op, internship, and scholarship opportunities at your fingertips – even if you are an international student.

TRAVEL

SHPE members attend conferences where they meet students from other universities and get to enjoy a different city every time. Last year we traveled to the National Conference in Phoenix Arizona. This year will be Long Beach, California.
SHPE is an all around student organization that will meet your changing needs for the next four (or five) years of your life. Whether you are looking for academic support, professional opportunities, volunteerism, travel, meeting people, or just to add Latin spice to your college life…we offer it all!
