Letter 1
FOR THE PERSONAL ATTENTION OF THE UN AMBASSADOR
Your Excellency:
I am just one of nearly 170,000 people on the
Social Networking site Twitter who post under the banner of the #iranelection thread, which started after
the fraudulent so-called 'election' of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June
2009. Over the past three months, millions of citizens of Iran and many other countries around the world - outraged at
the interference with and misrepresentation of the vote count - have
protested on the streets.
The
corrupt, theocratic regime's response to these peaceful demonstrations in Iran has been
imprisonment, torture, and murder of their own people. 'Show trials'
are currently taking place in which political opposition figures such as
Saeed Hajjarian are forced to retract the whole of their life's
work through forced confessions, after months of being subjected to
torture and deprived of their basic human rights.
Please ask a researcher to visit http://www.twitter.com and view the #iranelection 'stream', where a
multitude of posts reference factual press reports, opposition writings and eyewitness
accounts of the most appalling barbarity of the regime against its own people. We
intend to prepare over time a dossier of evidence for submission to The
Hague against Ahmadinejad and the equally illegitimate ruling leader,
the non-elected Ayatollah Khamenei. Amnesty International is also
involved and has decried the regime's treatment of its people.
We believe that the United Nations - although we understand it must legally welcome Ahmadinejad - should not recognize
him as President of Iran; indeed, many UN members, including the UK and
Germany, have refused to do this or to congratulate him. US President
Barack Obama has also voiced his concern over the regime's treatment of
protesters, and there has been widespread coverage from all
major media sources worldwide.
We
therefore request that, as a representative of justice and fairness,
you speak out and act on our behalf against Ahmadinejad's coup
government, and leave the New York forum in September 2009 if and when he starts to
speak. This would, in effect, indicate solidarity with the
oppressed people of Iran who are suffering greatly as a result of their
brave struggle to establish a democratic society. It is our conviction
that the UN needs to act now
to avoid further bloodshed/rapes/torture/imprisonment and murder of
innocent people who are courageous enough to question this corrupt
regime.
Thank you for reading this. If you would like any further information, I would be happy to assist.
Yours sincerely

Your Excellency,
I am writing to ask you to take a stand against the atrocities being
inflicted on the Iranian people by their current government under the
leadership of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Please do not acknowledge this person's assumed role as President of
Iran. Regardless of the results of the 12 June 2009 Iran election, this
individual and his regime have exhibited blatant disregard for basic
human rights and acted with complete disdain for the Geneva
Conventions.
I ask you to reproach the United Nations for its decision to extend an
invitation to Ahmadinejad; to request that the United Nations withdraws its invitation;
and, should Ahmadinejad still be allowed to attend on 23 September 2009, I respectfully
ask that you refuse to share a council chamber with him and leave
the meeting.
The people of Iran have not asked the rest of the world for money,
intervention or interference; all they ask is for our support in their
struggle for a free, democratic Iran. As representative of the country of [country name] and
its people, I urge you to demonstrate that support on September 23rd.
Kind regards |

To: United NationsThe 2009 Iranian presidential election
was held on 12 June 2009 in Iran, the tenth presidential election to be
held in the country. The incumbent was Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The Iranian
reform movement attempted to unite behind former Prime Minister
Mir-Hossein Mousavi. The turnout was very high, with approximately 85%
of the electorate voting. Unofficial results from within the interim
ministry reported Mousavi the absolute winner with 54% of the votes.
Mehdi Karoubi and Ahmadinejad received 31% and 13%, ranked after
Mousavi. In total denial of the Iranian people's choice, the Islamic
Republic's officials announced Ahmadinejad to be the winner. Protesting Iranians were to be repressed by military force.
We, the Iranian
people and supporters of democracy and freedom across the world, request
that the United Nations condemn the current coup d'état, support Iranians in
their efforts for a fair election, and
refrain from accepting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the next president of
Iran.
We, the Iranian people, ask the United Nations to leave the seat of Iran empty until a future legitimate election has taken place.
