The Class of ‘79 (with assistance from the Classes of ’78 and ’77) invites you to celebrate its’ 30-year reunion this November. All Lancers are invited---no matter what year you graduated (or even if you attended but didn’t graduate). Plan to arrive either Thursday, November 5 (Guy Fawkes Day!) or Friday, November 6 as your schedule allows.
What’s Happening
Registration
The registration form for you to complete and return is on page 3 of this document. Please send it back ASAP and no later than October 5, 2009. The cost of attending the class reunion will be $100.00 per person. This will cover the cost of the Saturday dinner and dance, and the Friday night reception as well.
Hotel Accommodations
A block of rooms at El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel has been reserved for reunion attendees. Please reserve your room after July 15, 2009, and no later than October 5, 2009 by calling 866-293-1842 or e-mailing reservations@eltropicanohotel.com. Please identify yourself as being with the Lakenheath High School Reunion (England).
The room rate is $105 per night (single, double, triple or even quadruple occupancy). Tax of 16.75% will be added to the room price. The group rate will be extended two days before and two days after the reunion dates (subject to availability). Self-parking is available at $14.00 per day plus 8.125% tax. There is a public parking lot (less expensive) across the street. There is also a shuttle service to and from the airport (cost approximately $32) so if you are flying in you don’t have to rent a car. We may be able to enlist some local Lancers to help us with airport runs as well.
There is free Wi Fi in all rooms, and hotel guests have complimentary access to the on-site Strive Health Club.
What the hotel says about itself: “Take a touch of “tropical”…add a pinch of “glitz”…mix with a dash of “Latin”, voila, you have the El Tropicano Riverwalk experience. Our multi-million dollar renovation is now complete and the results are simply stunning.
Located on the banks of the beautiful San Antonio River, our hotel features 306 attractive, comfortable guestrooms, a lovely Mango’s Restaurant offering delicious breakfast and lunch buffets and the Tiki Bar, complete with a veranda that overlooks the Riverwalk. For specialty coffees and light snacks, our Expreso Bar is conveniently located off the lobby/restaurant area. Mexican folk art is displayed throughout the lobby, along with high-tech plasma screens informing guests of upcoming events.
Two dramatic, winding staircases lead to the second floor courtyard and pool area. The courtyard includes 20-foot palms, retro pool furniture, a tiki-bar, and an open-air bar overlooking the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. Holiday Inn El Tropicano Riverwalk is a “resort style” tropical themed property that offers 37,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.”
The Fine Print: “Any individual cancellations received less than 72 hours prior to arrival will be billed for one (1) night room and tax. It is the responsibility of Lakenheath High School Reunion to inform all attendees of our cancellation policy. The Hotel agrees to hold your room block until Monday, October 5, 2009; at that time any unsold rooms will be released and revert back to the Hotel for general sale. Reservations received after the cut-off date will be on a space available basis only, at the prevailing room rate.
Any individual cancellations received less than 72 hours prior to arrival will be billed for one (1) night room and tax.
The rates quoted are special group discount rates and do not apply to any current or future promotions or specials that may be offered to individual travelers.
The “Kids Eat Free” Holiday Inn Promotion does not apply to groups as the special group rate is offered at a deep discount.”
