Technology Meeting

Purpose:  Communicating technology needs and training to and from the teams.

Teacher Computer Refresh

v    October 29th (or so).  IT people will be bringing new computers to teachers.  Please let Dan set them up!

 

Tech Coordinator positions are being phased out in 2 years and replaced with an ACE position (another union fills this position—NOT teachers).  One “teacher expert” will then cover one high school and one middle school to try to help with educational tech issues.  This is half the number of tech coordinators as there are now.

 

Zangle

 

v    If you have a Zangle question, try the Zangle help email first before you try Dan. Teachers who are using Zangle are also helpful resources.

 

v     Today’s tip: In the gradebook, click on a student’s name and choose the student’s name and then “assignments.”  You can then see your students’ other classes and current grades, but remember that the grades you see may not be up-to-date.  Counselors cannot see

 

v    People wanting to do grades at home using Zangle need to use VPN (Virtual Private Network).  You can download the application from the district.  If you cannot get it to work, call the help desk phone # is 742-4615.

 

v    Next time, Dan will show people how to get onto Moodle to use for Zangle and other training videos.

 

v    No idea when parents will be able to see grades.  Hopefully soon.

 

v    Mike will be announcing that we are supposed to post Mid-term reports and then we do it.  Even though parents can’t check the grades yet, the district wants us to do that.  Dan will give us directions at that time.

 

v    Even if you choose to use another gradebook, you will still have to post your final grades using Zangle.

 

MLP

v    Make sure teachers are going to MLP and closing out their trainings.  Get it done with your team asap!

 

Misc.

v    Complete the team technology survey online in the next week.

 

v    Future meetings should be held in Tina’s computer lab so that tech tips can be shared and teachers can access their “stuff” too.

 

v    Update teacher websites under “Teacher Connect.”
