From the New Zealand Free the Five Committee

The New Zealand Free the Five Committee extends our most profound sympathy to Gerardo Hernandez and his wife Adriana, and to their family, following the death of his mother, Carmen Nordelo Tejera.
 
We extend our condolences also to Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René, in recognition that the mother of any one of the Five is the mother of them all.
 
Carmen's death is a cruel reminder of the suffering not only of the Five, but of their families and loved ones, who also bear the pain of their unjust imprisonment. We therefore demand that President Obama end this travesty of justice and immediately free the Five, so that they can be reunited with what remains of their families.
