Statement of Interest for Vice Chair of ARLIS/NA

I write to express my interest in the position of Vice Chair of ARLIS/NA Northern California. I am passionate about visual art and eager to learn from and promote arts librarianship in the Bay Area. Through an active role in the community as Vice Chair, I would seek to facilitate ongoing arts librarian knowledge-exchange, which may include the sharing of resources, improving service to patrons, digitization efforts, and exhibits issues. I would also greatly enjoy scheduling more events—talks and library, archive, and/or museum tours—throughout the year for members to participate in; the opportunity to see rare materials, outside our daily workday concerns, sparks ideas, renews our zeal, and promotes lifelong learning.

I would also be interested to develop a place on the website for members to post images and information about current exhibitions—this would offer a portrait of Bay Area library arts exhibits, themes and concerns. I am gifted at communication and excited to be intertwining my love of the arts with a new career in librarianship – I would be pleased to be bring my talents and enthusiasm to the position of ARLIS/NA Northern California Vice Chair.
