Regular Class Height Specifications:
- Baby Green: 2’ to 2’3” (horse/rider combination may not compete above 2’3” at this show)
- Tadpole: 2’3” to 2’6”
- Hopeful: 2’6” to 2’9”
- Schooling; 2’9” to 3’
- Low: 3’ – 3’3”
- High: 3’3’ to 3’6”
Stakes Class Specifications:
- Baby Green: Horse/rider combination may not compete above 2’3” at this show.
- Tadpole Jumper: Horse/rider combination may not compete above 2’9” at this show. This height limitation applies only to horse/rider combinations entering the Tadpole Stakes Class.
- Hopeful Jumper and Schooling Jumper: Horse/rider combination may not compete above 3’ at this show. This height limitation applies only to horse/rider combinations entering the Hopeful and Schooling Jumper Stakes Classes.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
- All riders must wear medical armbands during when jumping on the show grounds. Medical armbands will be available for purchase at the secretary’s stand.
- All “Course A” classes will be judged as clear rounds. The winners will be determined on the number of faults (time, knock-downs, and refusals) accumulated throughout the round. If multiple rounds are fault free, the winners will be determined based on fastest time. Ribbons through 6th place will be awarded.
- All “Course B” classes will be judged as Power & Speed rounds (riders going fault free through the “power” portion will stay in the ring and move on to the “speed” portion after a signal from the judge). The winners will determined based on clear rounds and fastest time. Ribbons through 6th place will be awarded.
STAKES CLASSES: CASH PRIZES FOR WINNERS!
- At least four entries are required for payout in stakes classes.
- Stakes class rounds will be judged as traditional jumper rounds – clear rounds are invited back at the end of the class for a jump-off round. The winner will be based on clear rounds and fastest times.
- To qualify to compete in a Stakes Class, horse/rider combination must have entered at least one non-stakes class.
Hylton Classic Cross Country Derby: Starts at 12:00 pm at the top of the hill
$15/class ($10 if pre-entry)
- Green (2’), 225 mpm
- Beginner Novice (2’7”), 350 mpm
- Novice (2’11”), 400 mpm (may not compete below 2’6” at this show)
- Training (3’3”) 450 mpm (may not compete below 2’9” at this show)
- Prelim/Training (3’6” stadium portion, 3’3” cross country portion), 475 mpm (may not compete below 3’ at this show)
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
- Riders must wear body protective vests, ASTM approved helmets, and medical armbands during their cross country derby rounds.
- Courses will consist of traditional stadium jumps and traditional cross country jumps. Penalties will be assessed for knock-downs, refusals, and time penalties. Penalties awarded as follows: Knock-downs – 5, Refusals – 10, Every second under optimum time – 0.25, Every second over optimum time – 1. Time will be rounded up to the nearest full second.
- Winners will be determined based on the lowest penalty score. A portion of cross country course will be judged based on equitation (rider position and effectiveness of the aids as is appropriate for a safe and successful cross country ride). In case of a tie, the ride with the highest equitation score wins. Ribbons through 6th place will be awarded.
- A prize will be awarded to the High Senior Equitation Score Overall and the High Junior Equitation Score Overall.
PRE-ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH TO QUALIFY FOR DISCOUNT.
