Task 2 - Introduce Online Community

4:20 - 5:00 - Diane

  • Watch a quick tour of  21CTL On Line Community (Ning)   
    • Diane will briefly demonstrate layout of our Ning (Tabs)
    • Show participants courses tab and how to access syllabus
  • Create a Ning Login 
  • Create a Ning Profile
  • Watch part  video (Shining Eyes of Passion)
  • Respond to Prompt using Ning Forum

Task 3 - Introduction to Google Tools

5:00 - 5:30  - George

 

  • Create Login Accounts for Google   George
  • Enjoy Snack Break

  • Needs assessment survey filled out by anyone who hasn't done so

Right after break---------
  • Move to create human visual representation of survey responses.
    • Lucie will demonstrate Google Forms/Response
    • Participants physically moving to create human graphs to match response summary

 

Task 4 - Introduce PLENS

Task 5 - Intro to Project/Unit

Listen to review of Project/Unit Guidelines and Assessment (5 min)


Learning Outcomes:

  1. You will know and understand the project/unit expectations as defined in the rubric.

  2. You will be able to apply your knowledge by identifying elements of the rubric found in the project/unit.


Procedure: Course participants will…

  1. Select one of four Project Based Learning Examples of unit/projects posted on the Ning.

  2. Review Project Based Learning Examplesof units/projects listed on Ning.   (Break out rooms by course)

  3. Identify elements of project rubric found in unit/project. You may opt to do use the online or hard copy version of the rubric.  (30 min.)

  4. Share something you noticed - discussion in small group (15 min.)

  5. Ask clarifying questions about project/unit assessment and rubric. (Return to lab for whole group discussion) (5 min.)

 

Task 6 - Review Online Session  Expectation 6:45 - 7:00

    Completed unit, curriculum or project using new tools and post institute work completed by Sept. 20.
