Brief Church Profile

Great Commission Community Church (GCCC) is a developing church plant under the mid-Atlantic District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination.  Located in the Pentagon City area of Arlington, Virginia, GCCC’s vision is to help people in the D.C. area and beyond become fully devoted disciples of Christ (intimately connected to Christ, committed to Christ’s community, and abandoned to Christ’s cause).

 

Since our first official service in June 2002, God has been steadily growing our church both spiritually and in numbers.  We are in the process of creating healthy ministries to become the church God desires for us to be. From a very small group of believers, God has blessed us with about 80-100 people in Sunday attendance.  A majority of our regular attendees are Asian American young adults and young families.  Nonetheless, GCCC welcomes all ethnicities and does not seek to target any particular group or life stage.

Senior Pastor Ministry Position

GCCC is seeking a Senior Pastor by fall 2009 to lead the church into its next phase of God’s plan.  This is currently the only permanent pastoral staff position within the church. 

 

Duties include, but not limited to:   

• Teaching/Preaching – Feeding flock by biblical, expository teaching
• Leadership Training – Recruiting, training, and developing leaders
• Facilitate Advisory Board – Lead Pastor will be lead and facilitate meetings
• Primary Visionary – Will lead Advisory Board and congregation in vision
• Administrate – Oversee structure of church
• Small Groups – Oversee curriculum and structure of the small group ministry
• Other Duties – Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc.

 

Key desired characteristics we are looking for in this position include:

• Humility/Teachability
• Integrity
• Sound expository preaching (topical at times is okay as well)
• Reformed in theology
• Agrees with GCCC Statements of Faith
• Open to “charismatic” gifts
• Knows importance of and experiences power of prayer
• Has a good family life
• Has right mix of giftings
