Here start the tales of the high school day,
That everyone has a problem in their own which way,
They have to make it through one day of school,
Who knew that trying to get through would be so cruel,
First, Second, third and fourth period go by slow,
But when you get to lunch you wish the time wouldn’t go,
Sixth Seventh drag on till you can take it no longer,
The day must end for you to feel free since you are a teenager.
Friends help you laugh and make the day go by fast,
Walking with them you wish the time would last.
Here bygynneth the prologue of Differences of Student Effort
Going through my first period class of high school,
I've noticed something that seems to be comical,
All the students in science class present,
Are so extremely different,
One cares too much about their grade,
While the other isn't one bit afraid.
Here bygynneth the tale of Differences of Student Effort
As Sandy runs into class,
She wonders the results for her science test,
Carrying her backpack, purse and book without getting hurt,
You wonder how this teenager keeps her back bone stalwart,
While Clarissa walks in tardy,
Because to dunkin doughnuts she drove slowly,
A high class girl with tons of make up on her face,
Just carries a pocketbook and looks to put it down some place.
Then there's Ryan the brain who walks in,
Content because with his intelligence he'll always win.
Smiling and grinning from ear to ear,
You can tell his ego is in the air.
The test gets passed back,
Sandy has a heart attack,
As the grade attacks her eyes,
She begins to cry.
The fragile flower ponders in her mind,
No one sees because she sits behind,
“I don't understand what I did wrong,
How will I live all lifelong?
I studied all night for this exam,
Unsatisfied with a fifty I can say I am.”
As Clarissa gets her grade of twenty,
“I got some right and feel a little brainy,
So where's the party tonight?
I have a dress that fits just right,
Its shines like a star,
I’ll look so cool coming out of my car.”
Erudite Ryan speaks “That was easy,
But darn I only got a ninety!”
As cute and funny Ryan may be,
Comments like that make him come off very geeky.
Sandra seems to just cry more and more,
As if her face were raining downpour,
As everyone notices the tears in her eyes,
They turn around and say “Is everything alright?”
Her friends come over to comfort her,
They know that she’s not trying to play an actor,
The affable teacher Miss Smith comes over and says that “It’ll be ok,
Even if you don’t have an A,
Why don’t you go to the nurse?
Go sit down, relax and take some breathers.”
Sandra slowly walks out of the room,
Looking down as Eeyore would in gloom.
Clarissa laughs after Sandra leaves,
“That girl really does achieve,
Why would she be upset over fifty?
I think she at least knows something and I’m happy with my twenty.”
As Miss Smith looks at her straight in the eye,
“Why don’t you care to even try?
You could do better if you started to work hard,
Instead you look at this class as a sinecure.”
Ryan ponders about Sandra and feels a little guilty,
And suddenly realizes he can’t complain about a ninety.
Miss Smith says lots of people didn’t do so well,
She goes over their problems instead of expressing with a yell,
You wouldn’t call this teacher straight-laced,
You know she’s friendly just by her face,
She demonstrates and shows their mistakes,
On Tuesday there is a retake.
The bell rings and she sighs and thinks of all the students’ answer,
It would be salutary if students rubbed off a little on each other.
Without meaning this critically,
Believing it would just make students happy.
Here bygynneth the prologue of Chase The Great
Melissa H
With this pilgrimage I choose to tell you a tale
That might make you wail.
Its about a male who prevails.
Not only for he but for others who maybe
A baby.
As you where told Some kids do well in school
And others just act like fools.
Some kids really try
And all they can do is cry.
First days of school are always tuff
As you’ll find out soon enough.
Especially entering school as an underdog,
A freshmen.
Freshmen are the bugs at the bottom of the food chain
Who are ruled by a cane,
School can be hard
You can feel discard
Or that you even need a body guard.
If you think things will get better
Your wrong its more like a chain or fetter letter.
The first Friday of the year is known as Freshmen Friday.
The day that freshmen must pay.
Some people call this day the closest thing to hell,
Kinda like living in a cell
Others reefer to it as the day the live for
Always wanting more.
Freshmen Friday is a day where upper class men repeatedly taunt and haze,
And leave the freshmen in a daze.
And so this is where my tale begins,
When a young eager boys life dims.
Here bygynneth the tale of Chase The Great
And so we have Chase Landstar
He’s a bit bizarre.
Your typical stereotype of a freshmen.
Gossamer as a ball-point pen,
But a brain the size of fat hen.
He stands 4 feet 8 inches,
And never causes flinches.
Chase carry’s his backpack,
That looks like it could attack.
If you where to push his back pack he would fall down the stairs
And no one would really care
He would make a prayer
And hope no one would stare.
But pull out a lawn chair
Cause another freshmen is holding up the stairs.
Chase screams nerd.
And he can seem like a turd
And could fit in the theater of the absurd.
But don’t get me wrong chase is indeed a good fellow.
Hes very mellow
But more of a class fellow.
Chase is bright
Kinda like the sun light.
Or more like a knight,
Of spelling right.
Enough of this
Lets get on with this so we can dismiss.
If there is anyone chase should fear
In this academic year,
It would be Ram the Ruthless
Who happens to be toothless.
Rams the captain of the football team
That gets creamed
Since they haven’t won a game all season
They should be up for high treason.
As Chase runs down red hall
He hits a stone wall.
That stone wall being Ram.
Ram explodes like the Hoover dam.
And chase trys to scram.
Ram yells like a Vietnam
Ill get you ,
You rack of lamb.
And so the chase begins,
Where you must pay for your sins.
Chase makes it to lunch
so he can have some fruit punch.
And all he sees,
is the parted sea.
Cheerleaders to your left
Jocks to the right
Band geeks with a halo shining bright
And juvenile delinquents some where near the fight.
And all chase is trying to do is get a bite.
But with this guess who walks in the door
No other than the man he wanted to see more.
Ram the man.
And so chase leaves
Only before he is seen.
And now chase must run but not for fun.
And so now the day is almost done
But not before the true fun has begun.
7 th period.
Chase has gym
And walks in with a grim.
Where the gym teachers have sinecure jobs
That make me want to sob.
Chase walks in wishing he was blind
Only to find
That ram is still alive.
Seniors vs. Freshmen.
We already know who’s going to win.
But what game shall we play,
On this Freshmen Friday.
None other sport than Dodge ball.
Soon enough there will be a brawl
And chase will pray to saint Paul.
And right before the whistle blows
Ram rose and says “Chase is toast.”
As Chase stood there like a ghost,
He trys to cajole him “ please ram don’t.”
Ram whispers among his friends
Which soon will be exposed.
As ram will soon castigate
He will determine Chases fate.
Chase ducks and holds his knees
And hopes that prayers work indeed.
And there they go balls flying everywhere
With tears in people underwear.
Hair is flying everywhere.
But to chase surprise he’s still alive.
Chase stands alone
As he begins to moan.
Chase against 15 men,
Who could break him like a pen
Time and time again.
But out of the crowd who do we see ram,
With the face of a china man.
And so here it is Chase closes his eyes
For his dimes
And Ram Pulls back his arm
To inflict some harm.
And here comes the ball
A for sure hit.
Chase wishes he could have done a bananas split.
But then a light bulb goes off ,as he sees the ball.
He stands tall
Stomps left then right and the ball flies past him
And he didn’t lose a limb.
Chase just DDRed him
And the ball flew past
And he was unsurpassed.
Now ram stood in shock
And chase too.
But then 12 more balls flew
And chase was down on the ground.
With the sound of the bell.
Chase survived Freshmen Friday
And from this day
Chase would never have to pay
For being a freshmen on freshmen Friday.
That day he gained respect.
No longer would he be frowned upon
But looked up on.
As the boy who beat Ram the Ruthless
With true and pure success.,
Will no longer be stressed.
Here bygynneth the prologue of the Gym Student's Tale
Kim R.
Gym is some people's favorite time of day,
But I hate it – what can I say?
Running, jumping, playing basketball,
To me it makes the time crawl.
All the freshmen are lined up against the wall,
The seniors love when it’s time to play dodge ball.
The seniors are insurgent –
We better get those freshmen out of there, it’s quite urgent.
This tale is that of a little girl,
Who goes by the nickname of squirrel.
Here bygynneth the Gym Student's Tale
This girl, Sam, is in her junior year,
And is a brunette who is very sincere.
She gets to gym class right in time for the bell
But she knows the time spent there won't be swell.
She puts on her sneakers and gym shorts,
These are required to play on the courts.
Her classmates thought her outfit was pretty phony,
Because her shirt was adorned with a pony,
Who had a mane and tail all glittery and fake,
Which was piled on like layers of cake.
She walked to where the gym teachers sit –
When the class heard they were running, they threw a fit.
Even though participation is a precept,
The class doesn’t wish to accept.
They walked out the door, down the stairs, to the track.
The gym teacher rode the golf cart out from the back.
The gym teacher said, "Go run the mile."
Sam thought, "Gee, he hasn't done that in a while."
In gym class – isn't health supposed to be promoted?
These guys are so fat they should be demoted.
They are by no means tenuous,
But at least their shirts aren’t strapless.
She runs a few laps, and starts to break down.
She looks to the gym teachers with a frown.
She sees that they're eating – wait! What's that?
It's a snack – loaded with Trans fat!
Hot dogs, marshmallows, and even chips,
She was surprised they didn’t have chicken strips.
It hangs on their stomach, arms, legs and thighs,
They're so fat – it could be their demise.
They sat there like they're on a high horse,
But all they wanted was another main course.
Sam wondered how her teacher could be so obese,
Then she understood as he ate another piece.
But whenever she thought of another obese innuendo,
She pictured him at home, playing his Nintendo
"But I should give him credit," she thought with a sigh,
"He really is an intelligent guy,
I see all the work he doesn't do,
But you know, he gets paid for it too."
So she figured – let them eat, let them have fun,
Because her semester in gym class is almost done.
She believes that they are meritorious,
Even if they may be the epitome of grossness.
Here bygynneth the Fallen Star
Tony K.
In Joseph A. Foran High School, where social status mattered most,
Attended your typical jock, one who loves to boast.
Hector was his name; he had everything going for him,
He lived life until that one day it went dim.
A big basketball star was what he was known as,
The next Michael Jordan he was shown as.
Since he was a jock he was high in the social standings.
Every girl thought he was stunning and canning.
Guys thought he was awesome and put him as an idol,
But in reality he was really cocky and acted like a child.
He was getting scholarships from everyone,
To colleges he wasn’t just anyone.
So let me tell you the story of Hector the star, the big man,
For this is a tragic which was done by God’s hands.
Sitting in English class Hector happily snoozing,
He may be winning games but school he was surely losing.
You got to step up your game, the teacher said,
Sorry sir there’s a lot of stress on my head.
Hector responded in a sepulchral way,
He hated English but loved it because it was the last class of the day.
The bell rings, Thank goodness, shouted Hector excitedly,
All I have left is basketball practice where I can be like God almighty.
There Hector goes again being cocky and conceited,
Just got people lower in the social ladder all upset and heated.
Just because he’s a big basketball star doesn’t mean he run this school.
Said a girl, he’s cocky and conceited he’s making himself look like a fool.
Hector hears the whispering like it was the sound of the wind,
They’re just jealous they’re not worth anything.
Hector had that in his head as he walked down to the gym,
With his chest out and his chin up like he was just better than all of them.
He walks on the court feeling like he’s back at home,
This is my place to shine where I’m well known.
Hector kept on boasting, but as a he did a team member shouted,
Your so annoying acting like you runs everything which I doubt it.
What did you say? responded Hector with a violent tone,
The player started using profanity and the tension grown.
Words were being thrown hitting hard like they were throwing rocks,
They started shoving just because one person didn’t like to be mocked.
The rest of the team crowded around and watched as they cussed,
Until Hector throws a punch and hits the player hard like a big gust,
Of wind just came and knocked him off his feet,
The team broke it up and tried to get Hector to take a seat.
Hector sat down and laughed that he desecrated the player,
The player stood up bleeding as Hector broke through his skin layer.
Blood was spilled and Hector felt so stalwart and had a smirk on his face,
But as the team looked at him they all felt disgraced.
The player was angered and debased himself as he pulled out a pen,
Ran up to Hector and slowly let the ink inject into his vulnerable skin and then,
Hector fell to the ground as multiple hits pierced through his flesh,
A situation just went out of control just because Hector was acting so fresh.
Hectors mind just shut down on him and his body fell and it was cadaverously as he lay,
This was the incident that ended his day.
Few weeks later Hector returns to school after the whole incident was done,
Hector walked through the gym seeing where it happened and he was so stun,
He needed the ink poisoning to realize that he was a crass kid,
He lost the scholarships and his reputation grew just because of what he did.
Now all the colleges looked at him as an inconsequential player,
He wasn’t important anymore since everyone was giving him a prayer,
For he wasn’t attending this school no more but it was better off this way,
He realized his wrong actions and wished he can relived those days,
But now he was to live off somewhere so distant and so far,
As known as the fallen star.
Here bygynneth the prologue of the Unforgettable Girl
Katie G
Caution my friends.
Entering Foran High School can be appalling.
Now I am not just stalling.
I hate to see the struggles of teens.
It’s just a matter of simple means.
I will grant you the power to fix a scheme.
In one simple theme.
Teens give you a perfect example
Of what they want to contrive.
It’s almost as if they want you to not achieve.
I can sit before you cast an aspersions.
But I would rather tell the truth.
I’ve experienced the struggles myself.
High school jocks have many people to look up to,
One can figure.
Grades are important to most but
Popularity might only matter to some.
People would kill to be friends with the popular one.
I am not the one
To know if any of you care
Are daring to find an answer
This is not a matter of involuntary reasoning.
There is so much gossip
Already we witness everyday
Basketball is a good example of a way.
I am here to say
A rumor you may inquire.
Personally I have experience
A change so great
Like this one
Everyone can compare
There foolish ways to there’s.
My story is almost as great
I feel I might debate
The assets they bring
Is just like the bell about to ring.
We remember the kids who stay
Or the ones who will run away.
I can’t imagine school without
Cocky athletes an how they put out.
Cheer so let’s see what there all about
Here bygynneth the tale of the Unforgettable Girl
In 1976, many moons ago
The school was empty.
What school may you ask?
Why Foran high school of course.
Today’s walls add new texture and fashion
To the emptiness once there.
There was a girl Amy, eyes all a glow.
Everyone who walked the halls where bellow.
All eyes on her, no other girl prettier.
She dresses with style and silver shine
All eyes on her even from behind.
When walking with her to find.
Her eyes struck out like one of a kind.
Her eyes where pure
Filled with a blazoned.
You can feel the endless burning
Of the sun shining above
Like a sweet innocent dove.
All eyes on her not even on grin
This fire is about to win.
Not even the touch of water can break.
Amy will be crowned for heaven sake.
Her beauty is divine
There’s no other girl as fine.
Entering the bright lit gym,
Millions of cheering students lie within.
Girls that matter to Amy are the girls “in”
With equal beauty and divine.
Lauren, Cody, Kasey, Bridget,
And Melissa are the girls I had in mind.
Each all look the same as if a clone
Appear with Blonde hair
Difference sizes may appear.
Today is an excessively special day,
For millions of people.
On top of a big day
Amy’s just one shine away.
Lauren and Amy are best friends,
They quite the pair
Irrespirable to bare.
This isn’t just a normal day.
It is abnormal we can say.
Today’s the biggest pep rally
Of the year. The whole school
Will be at this pep rally.
Massive groups with sit, stand, jump and cheer
For our number one teams is here.
The unstoppable football teams the best.
They haven’t even lost one game yet.
All of are sports teams are number one
In the state. Don’t let that fool
You, not every one thinks we are great.
Are glory is well appreciated.
Coming from me, a star soccer player
Who attended Foran. You’ll see
All the students never receives
Grades bellow a C. The students
At Foran High school all make honors
And are blatant role models to others.
The haters can be classified just like everyone else.
At times I wish to shackle
Those whom are hiding there school spirit
But I guess they just show
It in a different way.
Not like any of those people matter,
The jocks are the most affable
To the school atmosphere.
Everyone knows what it takes
To be popular. The riches
Of the school we can’t bare
To lose because without
Them there would be no food.
Everybody wants a taste of there fame.
It’s not easy to get there. The cheerleaders
Date all the football players. Only a few elected
Like Lauren, get the chance to have one of them.
The most popular girl in the school dates
Football captain, Matt. To be popular at Foran
You have to broach
Which means you have to consider
Yourself the big cheese.
You have to act the part to be “in”.
You have to also be friends with the “in”
Crowd or the jocks. There’s no other way to surpass
The system, or is there?
Now there’s one girl who will go down
In history today, her amazing ways will convince
People a change will never hurt anyone.
Her name is Amy. She’s the most florid
Girl to ever attend Foran.
She is on homecoming court this year.
She is also the president of the class.
The other competition running against
Her for homecoming queen is a joke.
No other girls will every beat any girl
As badly as she will tonight. Amy walks
Around and spreads the powerful aura
Of beauty and kindness. This is why everyone warships
Amy as if she is the sun god. There is only one Achilles heel
Behind her. Covering up it with a smile will take
Everyone off track; the crowd today will be wowed
With her huge smiley happy go lucky self.
She wears a stunning outfit to school everyday;
Her friends match her in such a way.
One can recognize her complete fashion sense.
Lauren takes Amy to a dark elevator, entering
The faculty lunge. The lights
Where off in the room. Lauren hit
The switch and boom! There was everything
You could imagine around. The entire crowd
Swarming around. She opened the door
And Lauren was as red as a cherry
I had to filch
An elevator key from the office
And I would get in trouble,
Lauren had to cajole Amy to promise that she would never tell
A soul, the pep rally started five minutes ago.
Rushing to the stands we wait for Amy to enter.
All eyes on the door a waiting for this beautiful
Brood. The stands are filled to the gills.
Melissa can hardly get enough oxygen to function.
Everyone freezes as the door
Starts to creak. Amy entered the gymnasium,
All eyes on Amy,
Every one glanced at Amy, all eyes on her.
A sparkle fell from her eye; she was spreading
A fountain of joy. Lauren could see the entire
School was drooling over her beauty.
The crowd started cheer for her.
There was not one fractious look.
She started to dance with the dance team.
Yet people where shocked, everyone was so happy
That Amy made a really good change.
The football team and cheerleaders don’t matter
As much. In such a way
You never know what will happen during the next
Foran high pep rally you can be surprised
How you can change the spirit
Of any school. What’s next?
Here bygynneth the prologue of Kelly’s Tale
Brian T
As Katie had said in the story before
Life may sometimes feel like a cultural war.
Surprising as what I am saying may be,
The battle is not with another, but within thee.
In a time when personal status is above all
Sometimes we may make others feel small.
But sadly we judge without knowing who people are,
When in reality they could be the brightest of stars.
Until the day we learn to see everything for what it is, we are blind
And if we are blind then as a civilization we are behind.
Let us learn to work together, and work united,
Rather than working alone and shortsighted.
If a lesson is learned from this tale let it be this
Don’t judge a book by its cover, this is my wish.
Here bygynneth Kelly’s Tale
Foran high school is a place of every nation, race, and creed,
And where every individual is respected by their deeds.
But now it seems that what really does matter,
Is raising your rank in the social ladder.
It’s as William Shakespeare had said in As You Like It
“All the World’s a stage
And all the Men and women merely players
They have their exits and their entrances.”
Kelly Simmons, a Milford resident
Holds the position of the Junior class president.
Vowing to maintain the honor of her peers,
She took the position without any fears.
Kelly represents the values of her class.
She’s a symbol of their goal to surpass
The challenges that life me throw,
And unveil the power that education can bestow.
Kelly’s a beautiful girl with hair like gold.
A fearless girl with an attitude so bold.
The girl the guys love and that girls want to be,
Kelly is the subject of much jealousy.
Though on paper Kelly seems magnificent,
Her actions are all but beneficent.
She walked passed some without a second glance,
Making fun of the “unpopular” when ever she had the chance.
“Move out of my way”, or “Why were you born?”
Are things Kelly would yell to those she would scorn.
But there was one individual to whom it seemed the worse.
It was as though this young mans life was cursed.
Young Jeremy MacDonald was his name.
His bizarre appearance was to blame,
For joke after joke, day after day
No matter where he might have been on his way.
Jeremy was a short kid, cadaverous in look,
And could normally be seen with his head in a book.
Many of his peers often used diversions
To leave Jeremy vulnerable to their aspersions.
The lunch room was the birth place to many of the rumors
That Kelly concocted from her twisted humor.
The myths about Jeremy’s world
Not knowing the trouble that they may swirl.
It just so happened, by unlucky chance
As well as a girl who just happened to glance,
That something would happen that would ruin his day
Something that made Jeremy want to run away.
Jeremy bit his lip and let out a yell.
This gave Kelly a story to tell.
“He’s a vampire, she yelled. He bit a girl.”
This set the lunch room into a whirl.
Laughter exploded from every corner
Leaving Jeremy as the only mourner.
He ran out of the room as fast as he could,
Jeremy no longer could stand where he stood.
Later that day all that was exchanged
Were smug looks on their faces that remained unchanged.
Feeling no pain, and feeling no remorse,
Kelly just continued on her way, continued on her course.
For the rest of the day, there was one thing on Kelly’s Mind
This thing is what Kelly would go home to find
It was a brand new car her parents had bought
It was her birthday today, though most had forgot.
At the end of the day when the final bell rang,
The hallways were filled with the lockers clang.
All but Kelly, who’s locker was stuck,
She had missed her bus, oh what luck.
Walking would be Kelly’s form of transportation
Although this made her feel much frustration.
She would pass the homeless shelter on her way
Not knowing what would happen, but come what may.
As Kelly passed the shelter she stood in awe,
She was unable to believe what she had saw.
There was Jeremy, he had just been eyed, but he wasn’t alone
He had brothers by his side
Kelly had asked “Why are you here?”
Jeremy was hesitant to answer, due to his fear.
But he eventually answered and said with a sigh,
That he has lived there since his parents had died.
Kelly’s soul became heavy with a notion,
It had more weight than 100 tons sinking in the ocean.
It was hard for her to try to bear
The fact that she had never cared.
Kelly left in a rush, with the days events on her mind.
All the way home, thinking “How could I be so blind.”
“How can I change this, she said. What can I do?”
She pondered this question and to her room she withdrew.
The next day at lunch were like the day’s before,
A constant battle in a cultural war.
Kelly and her friends were telling new stories
Of how they reached new levels of popularity and glory.
Within that time, while the girls were talking
Jeremy, on his way to his table, came by walking.
Kelly looked at him and he at her
But within that time neither one stirred.
Kelly was popular and she couldn’t be seen,
Talking to some one who was considered obscene.
What should she do, she was unsure,
For her, this position was so obscure
Though it was hard to do and it took a while,
Kelly was able to give Jeremy a smile.
This wasn’t much, not much at all
But it’s possible that her experience has torn down moral walls.
What happens next is still not clear,
And going there may strike her with fear.
But maybe now, Kelly can see
How a true leader is meant to be.
Here bygynneth the prologue of Sarah’s Tale
Eisha V.
A gal as gentle as a kitten
Could walk about without being bitten
Her tale so powerful on society’s behavior
Is why most call her a savior.
There isn’t one who cannot say they will not be impressed
For if they can then they were not blessed.
A daredevil who is an affable person and has a heart,
Will take what they were born for and create art.
She is nothing like the Junior class president
Who represents a Milford resident.
Many think she is kind,
But they are sadly blind.
Kelly is rude,
With a big attitude.
Sarah is gracious,
Yet sometimes loquacious.
So before you disregard this advice
Just remember at what price.
There is only person who can turn this world upside down,
To which her name should deserve a crown.
Here bygynneth Sarah’s Tale
A girl in junior year of high school
Can come up with the perfect definition of cruel.
Daredevil is her middle name,
For which she is proud for her fame.
Her name is Sarah the brave;
Though she is wild, she’s known to behave.
A Natural Helper and in the Band
I hope you understand.
She surmised that jocks
Had heads full of rocks.
Maybe that’s why
They make others cry.
Courage symbolizing that of a lion
And also that of King of Ireland, Brian.
Stands for what she believes in
Therefore, deserves a pin.
The Wife Of Bath
Is on the same path,
Of those who want
To change the world but can’t.
Her hair shines like gold
Makes her look bold.
Her eyes twinkle like stars,
She is anything but bizarre.
A quarter to eleven
Is when Sarah is in heaven,
With lunch so close by
She can soon see the blue-sky.
To pick a favorite time of day,
Could sometimes be as hard as molding clay.
Lunch is the best time to relax,
But I must ask:
“Why would you think
That to be in their click,
You must harass.
Are you that crass?”
Jocks and preps galore
It is no wonder they are to abhor.
Sitting together at a table
Sometimes it reminds Sarah of a fable.
Could invite you to join them
But watch out, you may be heinous and get their syndrome.
Do not be deceived by good looks
You’d be better friends with the cook
They will harass
Because you are from a lower class
But don’t you fret
Here comes the brunette
Sarah with power,
Makes the rest look like cowards.
Saving the day is her job
While the rest look like kabobs.
She caveats the jerks
“Before I go berserk,
Release your hand
Before you get canned.”
With this they stopped
Before they got chopped.
Sarah was a hero
While the jerks were a zero.
Though the best event ever
Is not very clever.
Throwing junk across the room
Will surely bring them to their doom.
Look out there it comes
Let us see what it becomes
Maybe detention
So pay attention
One last note
That will keep you afloat.
Jocks and preps may be cruel,
But that doesn’t make them cool.
Here bygynneth the prologue to The Changed Person
Kaitlyn S. J.
Yes I agree with what the boy had said
Cliques are so crass they don't get you ahead.
When you belong to a group you become who they are
You're no longer special
Just a fading star.
But not everyone knows what this is all about
So I'll tell you something to try and help you out.
Everyday someone says something about someone else
Never really caring about how other people felt.
When you try to be yourself you always have haters in the way
Telling you your nothing every single day.
But after a while you no longer smile
In their face to prove a point
You retaliate
Until they break
But what if your hater was once a friend
Promising to be loyal till the end.
Your surroundings change and so does you life,
You must figure out quick how to turn things right.
Here bygynneth Changed Person
Destiny was a truly beautiful person
There was no doubt there.
Being erudite student through her final year
She thought she could go through it without a care.
But with her own group of persons
And the way she conducted her life,
Haters seem to be factitious and be the farthest from nice.
With her head held high, her mind in control
Never letting what they say take charge on her soul.
Trina on the other hand was forever trying to ingratiate
Always cared about what people had to say.
Putting others down because she had a little bit of money
Laughed with the jocks even if they weren’t funny.
From each classroom her personality was the same
Always evil and always vain.
Hid behind makeup and never a book
Amused when tearing apart other people’s mental nooks.
When the bell rang for lunch the halls were quite crowded
So Destiny tried her best to maneuver around it.
Passing different cliques she thought was dumb
So in her mind hopeful was sung.
She looked to the right
Her crew would be here.
Never looking to the left
They would never be there.
To the right are the outcasts
Occasionally thrown a bone.
To the left are the golden children
Like Royalty on their throne.
Destiny’s crew did things different
Because they surly didn’t care
How wrong the rest of the population was or how unfair.
Flouted about their clothing
Boys to baggy, Girls to tight.
Yelled at because they would rather do things their way whether it be wrong or right.
At lunch they conversated about the day
Letting their problems float away
When the lovely little interloper Trina came to say Hey.
“I think its cute how you come to school
Try to run this whole place everything is cool.
But when you look at the big picture you guys don’t fit.
You should take whatever self-respect you have now and run away with it.”
“Listen slowness
Oh my bad, I meant to say Trina
Look, when you try to diss us
Try to be a little meaner.
It really doesn’t matter if you don’t like us
You’re really not that tough
So were really not that scared.
And with you in my face I wish I was visually impaired.
You’re a truly vapid person
I mean your looks don’t help they worsen.
The chance for people to take you for real
So could you please leave my presence so I can eat my meal?”
Trina rolled her eyes and called Destiny a dumb heffer.
Which made Destiny just want to deck her
She thought what’s the worse the worse that could happen,
It would be rare if Trina got one slap in.
She may be suspended for 10 days at most
But it’s worth it if she gets to slap Trina from this to that coast.
With all her strength she stood up pulling her fist back
Trina was unaware that she was going to get seriously slapped.
Destiny jawed Trina so hard to the ground
Everyone went silent at the thumping sound.
It reminds me of the time George Foreman fought Muhammad Ali
The punch wasn’t as gruesome, but it was good enough for me.
Destiny friends cheered
As Trina’s had gasped,
Trina lay knocked out
And Destiny was glad.
Soon she was suspended and Trina was soon fine.
But their parents couldn’t believe it this time.
You see Destiny and Trina were once friends
Split up by the school were cliques never end.
Everyone is in one,
Yeah even me
But remember your real fiends would never try to change you indefinitely.
Here bygynneth the prologue to Being the Same is Lame
Kelly M.
In the previous story,
We learn that friendship is worth more than glory.
And if a friend tries to change you,
You need to find friends that are new.
In this next tale,
Friendship never fails.
A girl learns more about herself,
And not to be on to just sit on a shelf.
She faces her fears and stood up to her peers,
And learned something new that would affect her for years.
Here bygynneth Being the Same is Lame
The car came to a stop at the front of the grandiose school.
Out stepped a girl who was shy and not at all cruel.
Her name was Amanda and she wore a frown,
And she carried sadness like an oversized crown.
Leaving her old school behind was a hard thing to do,
But she knew that this new life experience was something she had to go through.
When she heard the sound of the bell to start the school day,
She became so nervous and had nothing to say.
Through out the day, she felt vulnerable and alone.
Amanda felt like she stuck out like a broken bone.
When lunchtime rolled around,
There was not a seat for her to be found.
Each clique had their own table,
From the jocks to the nerds, and every other label.
None of them seemed like they would accept her with an open mind,
To find out if she could be the best friend kind.
So as she was walking, Amanda spotted a table of pretty girls,
Complete with designer bags, hair-flipping, and pearls.
As Amanda passed by, the popular girls didn’t give her a chance.
The ring-leader of the group gave her a redoubtable glance.
She said, “What are you looking at? Don’t walk past here.”
The girl laughed and whispered something in her sidekick’s ear.
She turned back to Amanda and exclaimed,
“You’re dressed like a slob. You should be ashamed.”
After that heinous comment, Amanda quickly walked away,
Severely embarrassed and no longer wanting to stay.
As she darted away, thinking about those scathing words,
Amanda bumped into a girl, who appeared to be one of the nerds.
“I heard what they said, it wasn’t very nice.
Trust me, I’ve known them all my life, and they are as cold as ice.
Come sit with me and we can talk it all through.
I’m Mary, by the way, and who are you?”
Surprised, Amanda responded, “My name’s Amanda. It’s nice to meet you.”
They sat at a table and Mary explained how the girls were so cruel.
They thought they ruled the whole entire school.
Mary added, “Those girls said some really mean stuff.
Why don’t you get back at them and show them your tough.”
“Oh, I can’t do that,” Amanda replied. “I’m too afraid.”
Mary said, “Just try. You know their cruelty isn’t going to fade.”
So the two of them sat there and concocted a plan
To finally get back at the teen-queen clan.
After minutes of talking and preparing,
Amanda stood up, feeling like everyone was staring.
She was nervous, but determined and excited,
For if she could accomplish this, she would be delighted.
Amanda strolled over to the girls’ domain.
The mean one said, “Go Away. Looking at you puts me in pain.”
Amanda started, “Look, you little brat.
I know I’m new, but you just can’t walk all over me like I’m a doormat.
You all aren’t as great as you see yourself to be,
And I can guarantee that most people in here will agree with me.
So grow up and get over your ego and your stupid self
As I change, too, and learn to stick up for myself.”
With that said, Amanda picked up a glass of soda, the color of dirt,
And poured it all on the cocky girl’s shirt.
Everyone in sight stood up and gave Amanda applause.
She felt overwhelmed and took a pause,
For what she just did would not be dismissed.
Her old, quiet self was what she no longer missed.
She learned from this experience, and so should you,
That materialistic things don’t make you true.
So stand up for what you believe,
And complete the things you want to achieve.
Here bygynneth the prologue of the The Tale of the Two Xs
Lauren M.
The tale of “Being Same is Lame” says it all,
Even in your darkest moments stand tall.
Success in life depends solely on you,
For this advice will always be true.
Become the most positive enthusiastic person you know.
Be loyal, honest, and go with the flow.
Have a generous and grateful heart.
Give people more than they expect as a start.
Commit yourself to those life lessons you have found.
For in your next tale, what goes around comes around…
Girls can be a bizarre gender,
They can be great friends and even lenders.
Always giving their own advice,
But not always willing to be nice.
Having friends is not a regret,
But then again you may not want to elicit all your secrets.
Too many issues and a lot of backstabbing,
Shakespearean mellow drama and a lot of boyfriend grabbing.
Girls, girls here’s my wish for you,
A change in your DNA may make you more true.
Here bygynneth Tale of the Two Xs
A clique of high school girls like mythological sirens considered friends forever,
Everyone knows birds of a feather flock together.
Each one luring with their own cruel intentions,
Heaven forbid a boy pay you attention.
Always willing to comfort on difficult days,
But heed this warning, be careful what you say.
There once was a girl who was straitlaced and all together
But the clique had to find a way to offend her.
Jealousy driven by green eyed envy
Always the motive for unsolicited cruelty
Incessantly oppressing one’s individuality.
Being surrounded by a wicked gender in school everyday
Began to permeate the confidence of other girls in every way.
Untrusting and struggling to make sense of all social interactions,
Never wanting to endure the cliques’ constant observations,
Enough was enough and words needed to be expressed in order to restore hope and conviction.
Walking down school hallways in silence and fear
Never wanting to shed not one single tear
But the clique was bored and looking for new prey
There would be no escape on this particular day
Cafeteria seats were limited so she would have to pay.
The girl sat down and started eating her lunch
Hoping to not even look at the bunch.
They spoke loudly enough so she could hear,
“She needs to get a life”, she heard quite clear.
The words stung and it was all she could bare.
There was never and invitation or even a phone call
For parties or get togethers or the Sweet Sixteen Ball.
The wicked girls just didn’t give her a chance,
More often than not, not even a glance
And they made it clear they didn’t want her at the dance.
The girl soon realized the clique was just insecure
And she would not take the bait or even the lure.
As luck would have it, she moved on just the same
With plenty of new friends and no feelings of shame.
Renewed confidence and enthusiasm inspired new flame.
One night at a party someone invited the clique
They huddled together gesturing with a simple head flick,
Trashing the innocent was a game they knew how to play
Suddenly, a comment was direct her way,
“Why are you here and who asked you to stay.”
Fed up, resilient, and determined to seek justice,
The girl stood up to the clique to fight the prejudice.
Defending herself and others against the torment,
She put an end to their vicious sleazy ways with judgment
And to her surprise she was applauded by all for her enjoyment.
Here bygynneth the prologue of the Rise of Ned
Charlie B.
My tale begins with a boy named Ned,
He was a quiet student who was very well read.
He had straight A’s and for this was criticized,
But this day was different for he decided to rise.
Just Like the Tale of the Two Xs,
This tale is about popularity and prejudice.
Just as the girl stood up to the cliques and overcame them,
Here begins another story about a boys attempt to defend.
Here in the Foran High lunchroom begins a great tale,
About a boy who decided society wasn’t fair.
Here bygynneth The Rise of Ned
As Ned entered the lunchroom he looked around for a seat.
He sat down in his normal place with the so called “geeks.”
After putting down his bag he jumped into a line.
He needed to get food fast for there was so little time.
As he approached the counter the monstrous lady said with a heinous tone,
“What do you want?” and Ned answered with a groin.
“Is any of this food even actually real?”
“I can’t believe you people can call this a meal!”
After taking the yellow food that was as lurid as slime,
He headed for his table fast for now he had even less time.
Just as Ned sat down and was about to eat what looked like sand,
He realized what was happening and decided to take a stand.
Bill the varsity football player was taking one of his friend’s money,
Although all the other jocks were laughing Ned didn’t think it was so funny.
Now any other time Ned would just turn his eyes,
But there was just something about this day that made Ned want to rise.
Ned rose out of his seat and started to shout,
“What do you think you’re doing, what is this all about?”
Bill looked up with a menacing stare
“None of this concerns you, why should you care?”
“Just because you play a physical sport, and because you’re considered popular,
Doesn’t mean that you can boss us around just because were considered nerds.”
“Why don’t you just mind your own business?” responded Bill with a menacing tone,
But Ned remained where he was as still as a stone.
Now everyone in the lunchroom knew this was like Gandhi versus Ali,
But Ned didn’t back down for today was his day for victory.
“If you don’t sit down in a second you can consider yourself done.”
Now at this time Ned thought hard whether he should run.
He looked towards the security guards but knew it was no use,
For they were always in their own worlds as if they were drug induced.
“Is there anything that else that you would like to say?”
Ned knew he had to take action for today was the day.
“Yeah, actually there is one more thing that I’d like you to hear,
While you’re taking our money now it will be completely different in a few years.
While you spent your high school in a drug and drunk filled haze,
Us so called nerds were studying, for education pays.
You can take our money now for you will surely need it,
For in the future you’ll be striving for your job and this money might help a bit.
But I want you to always remember this day,
And make sure you take this to account when I say,
That you can be the most popular kid in Foran High,
But none of that will matter in time.”
As Ned ended his speech the cafeteria went dead,
But one by one the students started to stand up and clap for Ned.
The whole cafeteria then soon stood up and cheered,
And Bill know knew he would never be feared.
Here bygynneth the prologue of the Quandary
Amy C.
Every Monday through Friday morning is usually the same;
Teens complaining about homework and teachers giving out detentions,
Just nothing new.
Though there is always something that changes the usual week.
Most of the time it occurs the first day of high school
During fifth period, this is when everyone sits at a table
With people they think will accept them
And after they chose that table the dilemma begins.
What table you chose in high school is going to make an impact
On the friends you chose,
The people you talk to,
And how your entire life will run.
On every new day there is always something new to talk about
Within your table and group of people;
Maybe the topic is about someone else,
Or the clothing you purchased this weekend,
Though generally its gossip.
Well if you ask me
I just plainly don’t agree with the function of gossip,
How it runs everyone s life
And breaks the trust barrier between friends and others.
There is always the popular teen or the popular group,
Then everyone else gets pushed into the group
That they appear mainly the same as everyone in the bunch.
Let’s say you aren’t in a clique,
Well you may think that
But you truly you are in one, without even knowing it.
It might be because of the clothing you wear or the way your hair looks,
It even might be because of what shoes you wear.
Truth is that everyone is in a clique
Either if they chose to be in one or others put them in one.
A couple of teens at Sugarloaf Regional High School
Located in Connecticut in the town of Milford surmised themselves to be the ‘crowd’.
So, here the story starts on Tyler, Katie, Tori, and Matthew.
Here bygynneth the Quandary
It all started toward the end of summer on a warm, comforting August morning,
When during the fifth period of the day and the first day of senior
Year Katie, Tyler, Matthew and Tori all said hello to each other.
They roamed the halls together, with no one being able to utter a word
Or even glance at them. Well this was basically because they were just so much cooler than most kids. Katie well she always had the latest fashion,
No matter what it was,
Could have been jewelry, shoes, shirts, pants, skirts, you name it she had it.
Most people commented about her sleek and gorgeous hair.
She usually wakes up and doesn’t put a dab
Of make-up, while others spend a horrendous amount of time
Applying make-up just to look good. Girls have jealously
On Katie because she is an Armani Exchange model
And has a friend named Tori that is a professional dancer
At American Ballet Theater (ABT). Tori was a bird
That traveled around the world to perform
For others. Everyone that comes across her surmises
That she is a model. These two girls are appreciated
By everyone except for the students that don’t associate
With them. They receive slack from their teachers for late projects and usually wheeled their way throughout high school
And so on and so forth. There are two guys there names are Matthew and Tyler,
Though most call them Matt and Ty. These guys are Tori and Katie’s best friends. Everyone thinks that Matt is the hot stuff of the school,
Though no know except for his three best friends know that he is actually broke.
In difference, that Ty is wealthy though not too attractive
And many say that he is like a king.
These four friends came in the first day of school of their senior year,
Every student that they came across stared in awe
As they strolled down the hallways. Every guy tried
To get Katie and Tori’s number though those guys weren’t ‘cool’
Enough for them so unfortunately
They didn’t get it. As far as Matt and Ty, they were able
To get any girl in school that they wanted to chill with but she had to be cool enough for them. They went their separate ways to each class, as periods
Passed from one to two and two to three and three to four.
They went to each class and within the class the new students
Weren’t allowed to sit next to them because they weren’t of the same status.
Which reminds me of when the knight, in The Wife of Bath
In the “ Canterbury Tales”. There once was a knight
In search for the answer to what do women want.
This knight had twelve months to find the answer or else he would be ceased.
The day before his death he came across a couple of women
Dancing in the woods and as he approached them to find the answer
To the question that was told to him, all the beautiful dancing women fled.
The only person left was an old lady whom sat there.
The knight asked her for the answer to the question
And he said if you give me the answer I will do whatever
It is asked of you. So the old lady told him the answer
And he ran to the queen and told her what women wanted most.
The old lady saved his life.
Then the old lady told him
That the thing that she wants from him is to marry her.
Though the knight responded
To this old lady whom had just saved his life;
“…your old, poor, and of a different social rank than I…”
Well back to the story at Sugarloaf High.
Fifth period came along and into the cafeteria
They all met. Ty, Matt, Katie, and Tori were all sitting at the senior table.
In which this table only contained the finest of all seniors.
Though freshman, transfer, and new students didn’t know
About this, therefore every new teen in the school was looking
For a place to sit. They would go to the senior table and say “may I sit here”
And everyone starts to laugh and scream
At this new kid and tell him “go sit with the nerds over there”.
Then when this kid leaves the entire table begins to prate about him.
Tori said “…hah did you see
Him he is wearing tube socks to his knee and shorts, how gay is that…”
And Matt responded “…yea I realized,
Who would ever carry such a big backpack…”
“…that’s what locker’s are for…duh…”
Katie said “…guys don’t be so mean…we were freshman once…”
Ty got irate
At Katie and told her “…yea we were freshman once
But we were never nerds or unpopular people…”.
The entire table kept on talking amongst themselves.
Then another student came by to ask to sit
With them and they were allowed to because that person has danced
With Tori in the past and was considered cool.
During the twenty minute lunch they all had gourmet lunches
And talked about how bad everyone was dressed or looked.
There was this boy whom came across them and told his sister
The new girl at the table if he can sit with her, she said yes. Without anyone knowing that he was the girls’ brother they all started to prate
About the boy and make fun of him. She began to yell
“Be quiet, do all of u have to be so crass
And treat everyone as if they are a lowlife; everyone is the same
And there is no difference between me, you, and him…”
“I don’t understand how you can sit
There and make fun of other people and there problems
When you probably have more problems than most of the people here”.
After she said this Tori stood up and said “if your go to betray
Us and treat us badly you can not sit here anymore” and the girl began to cry
And slapped Tori. Katie got up and slapped the girl
And said “You don’t lay a finger on us because once you have it means
That you’ve laid a finger on all of us”.
Then Katie, Tori, and the girl were all of the sudden in a fight.
While they were in this fight Ty and Matt tried
To get the girl away from their friends. As they were pulled apart
The girl had a bloody nose and had scratches on her arm.
Katie and Tori weren’t injured as badly they just had scratches.
It kills me to know that teens do these faults to others.
Little did the four friends know
That the girls’ dad was a lawyer for more than 15 years
And was well known throughout the state.
By the end of fifth period the girl had already spoken
To her father. He father was irritated at the fact that teens would commit
Such felony. As a result, to reprove Tyler, Katie, Tori, and Matt he told her
That he was going to castigate them
By sending them to juvenile jail
If they didn’t begin to treat others with respect,
Especially those different then them. The girl was stunned
By the punishment her dad was giving them. So, as a beneficent
She informed Katie, Ty, Matt, and Tori about this caveat
And they begged her to help them find a way out of it. She said
“You want me to help you after what you did to me and my brother?”
They all responded with sorrow
“Yes please we beg you, we promise to do as you ask of us.”
So, they made a pact.
The girl gave equitable work to each of them.
She made sure that their responsibility
Wouldn’t turn out to be a sinecure. Katie had to take one person once a week
To her photo shoot and treat them with respect
The entire week until she was done with the entire student body.
Ty had to lend ten percent of his money to hospitals, research hospital,
And any facility that aided sick and needy kids.
Matt had to donate his time
To meeting every teen in the school.
Lastly, Tori had to be the girl’s brother best friend
And help him out with anything he needed.
Here bygynneth Fitting In
Danielle W.
Foran High School is full of cliques.
You have the football players and the popular chicks.
Cheerleaders and computer geeks
The druggies and the music freaks
What people wear
What people do
The style of their hair
The brand of their shoes
Like the movie Mean Girls everyone judges.
People fight and then they hold grudges.
Before I start this tale I’ll give you this caveat,
Of all the cliques that think they’re hot.
Attending high school will change your life.
It could be amazing or cut like a knife.
Jess was a new girl thrown into the mix,
Trying to survive through all the cliques.
The longer she stayed here,
The less she had to fear.
Jess had a hard time making new friends,
And keeping up with all the trends.
Before Foran, Jess attended private school,
With all the uniforms they thought were cool.
Jess felt like Foran was the size of New York City .
She wanted to be friends with the girls she thought were pretty.
Jess tried so hard to fit into a clique,
To the point where it make her sick.
Why do people try so hard to fit in?
Is popularity really that important to win?
This callow young girl didn’t know what she was getting into.
With her huge stuffed book bag, everyone new she was new.
Jess tried so hard to fit in with the crowd.
She was so obnoxious and way too loud.
She didn’t receive approbation for any of her actions.
None of her teachers showed her any satisfaction.
She needed someone to permeate through her brain,
That trying to hard is quite insane.
One day in chemistry a classmate called her out.
She was annoyed and started to shout,
Why do you have such a vitriolic attitude?
Do you really think it’s that cool to be so rude?
Jess looked at her quite upset but put on the best smile she could.
If I could take my actions back I know I would.
I’m sorry for this huge mistake,
I never realized I looked so fake.
Jess was really upset and wanted to cry.
Her classmate looked at her and without any lie,
And told her people won’t debase her for who you are,
But how you have acted has gone too far.
They both apologized and now they’re friends,
And Jess is grateful for the advice she lends.
With this experience, Jess has learned her lesson
And was happy she had that intimidating session.
Here bygynneth the prologue to the tale of the Drug Test That Failed
Brian C.
Our story begins
In Foran High
With our hero Sam
He's a hell of a guy
But today, he is quite tired
For his English teacher
Well, should be fired
The teacher gave an assignment
That was much too long
And just because of this
Sam's whole day went wrong
And he learned
Higfh school is no fun
As you too will soon see
As did Katie and Tori
In the tale of "The Quandary"
Here bygynneth the tale of the drug test that failed
"Wake up Sam!"
Said the professor
"You are a good kid
Sam, you should know better"
"I'm sorry teach" said Sam
"I just need the rest"
"It's too late for sorrys
Sam, you must take a drug test!"
So on Sam went
On to the nurse
She looked so horrid
It seemed she belonged in a hearse
"Pee in this cup"she said
"And do it fast
For if it comes out positive
Your freedom will not last"
So Sam went into the bathroom
And he started to pee
Then he heard on the intercom
"Code 3.93"
The nurse rushed in
"Didn't you hear? Code 3.93
You must not be in here
No one is to be in the bathroom
So you better finish up real soon"
While she was saying this
Sam was still going
He tried his very hardest
But the urination
Would not stop flowing
During all this excitment
The cup spilled all over himself
And he thought in his head
'This is pure hell
These codes are as useful
As a waterless well'
With what urine was left
The test came out negative
But for Sam's soiled pants
The nurse was not sensitive
"May I please go home?"
Sam said with a frown
"Why? For new clothes?" said the nurse
"Just go to the lost and found"
So Sam was as sad as can be
Because the clothes in that box
Looked like they belonged in 1983
And to top it all off
He smelled like pee
So on Sam went to the
Room of lost and found
There he saw a girl so beautiful
He was speechless, not a sound
Left his mouth
Because her smile simply
Knocked him out
Like mighty Joe Frazier
In the 15th round
But she too had pants covered in pee
They noticed each other's stains and said
"Stupid Code 3.93"
This was followed with smiles and laughter
And they lived happily ever after
Here bygynneth the Prologue of The Tale of the Overbearing Lard
Caitlin S.
Foran High is the school of hard knocks.
The tale of the drug test that failed is one of the rocks
That students must deal with every five tick tocks.
Falling asleep in class is not a crime of the past
For now you must report to the nurse who administers
The Oh so fun drug test.
Not only does this prison have an administered drug tests for the weary,
They have teachers who believe they are superior.
Every high school has that teacher
The one who thinks he is the best of all preachers.
He wanders through halls his chest puffed out
The size of the mist at Niagara Falls.
Mary Shea was a senior at the school with the pardoning of appearance
Joseph A. Foran High, a den of lions.
Mary stood tall at 5 foot 9
Raven black hair always a shine.
An All-American swimmer
Who proved to be a winner.
She was a student on the honor roll
Who made to the top of her class reaching her goal.
Fellow students think she makes up the class GPA as a whole.
Seeking knowledge and experience
She sought out the job of much obedience
President of the mock legislators.
In my experience the president is the one in charge,
Not some overbearing advisor who is load of lard.
As I tell the story please bear in mind the advisor is a bit out of his mind.
Here bygynneth the Tale of the Overbearing Lard
Leadership is to be learned in high school
This may prevent you from acting like a fool,
When you make the brusque change into the real world.
Mary was the leader of a group of mock congressmen,
Mr. Dargan the advisor controlled the organization
None the wiser.
Mr. Dargan thought of himself as the perfect man
In truth he was only perfect being a hat stand.
Mary’s mission entailed filching Dargan’s plans.
Knowing she needed to expiate all the plans he had made.
She snuck into Dargan’s office
Willing to make promise she would rule the day.
After memorizing Austin Powers’ secret agent style
Mary was confident in her skills enough to call them a superpower.
Dargan took a daily hiatus around 2:45 each day
Walking the halls looking for someone to talk to though all would run away.
With James Bond techniques Mary arrived in the room safe
Without having to fumble all over the place.
The room reeked of Dargan’s thirty year old cologne
That smelled like the locker rooms of the pool
Which he wore everyday in hopes to cease being alone.
Mary ameliorated the agenda set for the meetings
In his planner before she noticed the time ticking away.
She packed up her things ready to go
When who walked down the hall but her foe.
She scrambled for a place of hiding
All she could find was a place in need of tidying
“Hello Mary Shea, what on earth are you doing here today?”
“I came by to ask you a question. But silly me I forgot,
I don’t know where my head is these days.
You’ve been doing a great job as advisor
Thanks for making the group all the wiser.”
“Yes of course no need to mention it
I don’t want to be crass
But you better be going
Before it starts snowing.”
“Yes of course, have a good night Mr. Dargan.”
Mary escaped the afternoon of life
As Dargan began to play
On his computer in hopes to avoid the afternoon fray.
Weeks went by without a word
Of the changes that had occurred.
Everything went according to plan
Mary Shea had ruled the day.
Here bygynneth the prologue of Lexx’s Tale
Ali I.
There once was a young girl
Alexis was her name, to her friends, Lexx.
Her life was near perfect, until it was sent into a whirl
She lost the person; she viewed to be her everything
Facing a new school day, extremely vulnerable
She wonders what this day will bring
She soon finds herself to be irate
Due to the insensitive and rather appalling actions
Of her fellow school mates
And her evil teacher,
As self-centered as Mr. Dargan,
And such a foul creature,
Makes her pain his favorite game to play,
Not helping her situation,
In the slightest way.
Listen closely to the trouble
This young girl faces
Will her pain fade or only double?
Here bygynneth Lexx’s Tale
She woke up the morning after, starting a new day
Filled with complete devastation,
She effortlessly got ready then headed on her way
Sauntering into school, head down, barely lifting her feet
She started for the library,
The place where she and her friends usually meet.
Expecting to receive sympathetic support,
She was immediately proven wrong
When one of her closest spoke nothing of this sort,
Though, saying the wrong thing is her well known obsession
The friend shockingly mocked Lexx’s cadaverous appearance with a crass joke
And asked the following question,
“Did you get mugged by a group of Mexicans on your walk here today?”
Upset and angered Lexx envisioned giving her friend a good choke.
Instead, she faked a smirk then slowly walked away.
To make matters better
That day was, in fact, Valentine’s Day.
Her body partly drained due to her loss from the prior night.
The boy whom she felt was “the one”
In the blink of an eye, everything was lost in a childish fight
Pacing her way through the halls
She was slammed with the stunning vision of two pint-sized freshmen
Practically procreating on the walls.
Disgusted by this display
She looked around searching for supervision,
An adult would surely have something to say
She found the fellow security guard
Simply glancing at this hormonal activity
That had left her quite scarred.
The guard ignored the lovers, as if they were unseen
And continued on his duty
To keep these halls clean
The bell gave off a ring
Lexx made for the stairs
Heading towards the science wing
This normally simple task was made complex
Turning a 30 second climb
Into a 27 day trek
This drastic difference in time was due
To couples who must hold hands the entire trip,
Slowing everyone down and making them late too.
Later arriving to her locker,
Lexx slammed her books into the pit,
As though they had done something wrong to her.
Suddenly, her sight was blinded with a bright flare of pink.
She turned to see her neighboring locker,
And immediately her heart sinks.
The locker nearby had been blazoned with trimmings of frill,
Glitters and lace coated the locker door
The vomit inducing materials made Lexx feel rather ill
Valentines Day in high school,
Lexx’s WWII, without all of the fun shooting,
But that day was far more cruel.
As she headed for Spanish that day
She doubted intransitive verb conjugations
Would make her sorrow go away
She neared the doorway to Spanish Hell, it was then,
She was slammed with the stunning vision
Of two pint-sized freshmen procreating, once again.
Lexx muddled through the day,
Finally 6 th period was over
The finish line was in sight, only one period away
Making her way from blue to yellow hall
She was, again, pleased to find two teenagers
Vertically reproducing on the wall
Slowing her pace in disgust
She doesn’t understand these mindless couples,
Who think public affection is a must.
Just then the bell gave off a ring,
She entered her final class, just as the note cut off.
Her teacher, often referred to as a jester, while he thinks he’s the king,
Gave her a dirty look.
He reproved her bitterly saying, “You’re late.”
“Not today, Mr. Teacher. Not today,” she murmured to him as her head shook.
Standing up, leaning forward onto his desk
The heinous teacher announced, “Everyone, leave Lexx alone, she is having a bad day.”
All eyes on her undone self, Lexx replied, “Thanks Mr. Teacher you’re the best.”
Mr. Teacher, being the respectful and kind person he is,
Pushed Lexx’s limits over the line, hurting her feelings
She wanted so badly to hurt his.
Closing her eyes, hiding her head in her hands
Drops of saline rolled down her cheeks
She felt alone, like no one understands
Before anyone could witness her short-lived break down,
She wiped the tears away and braved her way through the class
Trying to withstand the teacher who is as ridiculous as a dim-witted clown
Just as it seems karma is truly dead
Only five minutes,
Until the periods end,
Lexx heard a sudden crash, nearly jumping out of her skin,
Mr. Teacher had gone to sit in his chair, and missed
He jumped up and tried to play it off, Lexx showed a grin.
While it had been one of the worst days
The final five minutes, were oh-so satisfying.
Though high school has its insensitive ways,
To those who are lovelorn,
It’s comforting to know that a teacher falling on his rear,
Can help to forget about a heart that was brutally torn.
Here bygynneth the prologue of Dan’s Tale
Dan D.
All the children in all the land,
Are always at the teacher’s command,
They work and work their hands to dust,
What for? You ask, well, simply they must.
In that tale you just heard, the one they call the jester’s a joke,
And any friend who is mean, deserves a good choke,
I bet that Lexx’s homework load did not help her dread
She had too many things running round in side her head.
Homework is something done to consume time,
Although I always did mine
The time it takes is better spent doing something else
Like enjoying the snow before it melts.
I ask this of you please free the kids
They do not want to do everything you bid.
I know this because I was a student myself
Homework is bad for your health.
Here bygynneth Dan’s Tale
The great warrior Phillip, when he was just a boy,
Was a horrible sword wielder, even if it was just a toy.
He became a great knight, as you’re all aware
He came from a small town, you have to start somewhere.
Phillip came from the land of boredom,
Nothing to be found here except homework in this kingdom.
The Ruler of homework is the jester,
The school children think he’s such a pester.
This professor, he is the worst
His students always feel cursed.
They beg and beg for no more work
But he eats these complaints with a fork.
He gives his students assignments even on weekends.
Nothing here defends
Them in their time of need
Against the jester’s awful homework deeds.
He moves from school to school every few years
In his wake are poor excuses and tears.
He walks the hall of yellow and white,
Phillip’s first foe was really to him no match in might.
Phillip was after him for the glory of his defeat,
Knowledge was the only way to deplete
Him. Phillip felt no glory in strength,
The Jesters reign would be over at length.
The jester loved to prate about his childhood
He says, “I hated homework, as all my friends would.”
Phillip the Great (though he was not great yet) knew the Jester well,
Knew about the Assignment-giver’s evil ways.
The smile on the jesters face is how you can tell,
When He says, “Essay due in two days.”
It was sixth period once again,
The Jesters soporific lecture was taking over all of his friends,
They slowly became zombies as he pillaged their minds.
After this class they would leave them behind.
Now this was all very scary,
It made Phillip’s friend Chaucer actually look up from writing his tales Canterbury.
Their faces took on a cadaverous hue,
The jester had transcended the limit, but Phillip was not sure what to do.
Then the jester himself uttered this redoubtable rhyme:
“Come all, come this way
(At these words the class got up, as they were in a trance,
It was horrible to witness this sepulchral dance.)
Brothers and sisters listen up,
Here are the instructions, rough draft poem due Wednesday.”
Then he took a gulp from his bejeweled cup,
With great sangfroid
Phillip’s jaw dropped right away
He could not believe what he just heard and saw
He wondered why he was not zombish; he now had something to say.
The jester stood like a stalwart ruler over his subjects,
Ruler of the athletic, the writers and the rejects.
Phillip spoke up, his voice cutting the silence like a sword,
The jester became disconcerted, as he was unwarned,
That Phillip was unscathed and at his senses.
Phillip said, “Sir, this is our first time with poetry
And this might go for only me
But I will need more time
To turn my prose into rhyme.”
At this the class’s daze was broke
They spoke up like insurgent folk
“Sir we need time, we have so much more work,
We have more than the banking clerk.”
At this the Jester realized he was defeated and mistaken
He looked at the class, a little more or less forsaken.
He said, “Fine if this is how you really feel,
Then the due date of Wednesday I will repeal.
But lets be honest or let’s loose trust
It will be due on Thursday, that is a must.”
Then the class sighed with relief,
Thanked Phillip for mitigating their grief.
For even though the poem was still due
They could work a little slower because it wasn’t due soon.
Phillip basked in his first glory
He knew the bards would all tell this story,
Alongside the tales of Beowulf and Alexander the Great
The great stories of reputation, loyalty and fate.
Phillip grew up to be a chivalrous knight
Always in battle for victory, women, and the fight.
Optional Epilogue:
-The story just told was a complete work of fiction and is in no way real,
But maybe it is depending on how you feel .
JESTER: Realized that the performance arts was his real calling, because he found that he would rather make people happy instead of miserable. He will go on to become a legendary singer in the courts, forever in debt to Phillip the Great, who saved him from a bad career choice, and will be noted in a certain pop culture song in the future, “Bye, Bye Miss American Pie”. However, he will become best known for his rendition of “ Happy Birthday”.
“The Jester Sang to the king and queen in a Coat he borrowed from James Dean.”
(The jester did not actually have a coat from James Dean; James Dean had the Jester’s coat.)
CHAUCER: Will go on to become the world famous author of the “Canterbury Tales”, which he will work on for many years, and his work will be read by thousands of day dreaming English students like himself, every year.
Here bygynneth The Student of Despises Prologue
Samantha T.
Carmen, a girl with much potential and aplomb,
Felt that in this one class it did not feel like home.
She felt a huge coalition
of discomfort and frustration.
School was a problem to many kids,
for teachers were always the cause of what the students did.
Most kids would consider this place jail,
That is the placing of my tale.
Here bygynneth The Student of Despises Tale
As the bell rings to end one class,
Carmen knows it’s time to pass,
to the dreaded period of English, where
She would walk with her crew,
Lola, Cristina, and Catalina, to name a few.
Although English is a place they also have to go,
It’s not with Professor Stingy, you know.
Entering the class room with shuffling feet,
Carmen walks slowly to her seat.
She looks to the left for papers, which would mean
homework! Thank goodness there are none to be seen.
Homework was something Carmen abominated,
Why, oh, why was it ever created?
Sitting in her seat, a blank look on her face,
her arm holding her head up, starring into space.
When Professor Stingy started to speak,
whatever she heard sounded very weak.
What she heard was “ Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa,” as
the students in the Charlie Brown cartoon had.
“Carmen, don’t you just love the homework I give you?”
“I love every bit of it, I really do!”
This tone between the two, would go on every day
since both of them always wanted their way.
Glancing at the clock now and then,
Carmen kept pondering when will this end?
Finally it was dismissal time,
Now on to the next tale of rhymes.
This tale is of the same kind,
a boy named Philip who spoke his mind.
He too felt the very same way,
“How the teachers give too much work and leave the students with no say.”
Here bygynneth the prologue to Dre’s Tale
Eleazar L.
Now those stories were nice
And for some they will suffice.
But this is a story of true irony
If you don’t like it fire me.
From this small little job,
I’m telling you go tell our boss Rob.
But don’t tell that I wasn’t around
And listening to that cool song Funky Town
This story starts in a school where drama ruled,
And by foolishness was it fueled.
Here bygynneth Dre’s Tale
There was once a school
It was it was full of depression and pity
Every one in it had a frown,
And every one in it had felt down.
But there was a guy named Dre
He hated conflict and frays.
He was a very relaxed man,
Who always had a great plan.
He know how to contrive the best schemes
But realized how to not cause scenes.
He never tried over dressed but
He always did want to look his best.
He was always known to be as patient as God
He was known to put on tat façade.
Some people said he was Bizarre
But they never did go far.
He never infringed on peoples rights
Because he never wanted to go into any fights
He had a lot of aplomb,
But he didn’t think that he was the bomb.
Every day he would walk through the school
And every one would act like a fool.
They would say things like “o there is so much drama”
But he would tell them “hey don’t tell me tell your mama”.
But one day a friend got in a fight
And Dre wanted to make things all right.
His friend had been debased
So through the school he had raced
Dre than walked around the school,
O he looked like the biggest fool
Dre went and around
For his friends big old frown.
He looked down all the halls,
While he did that he made funny bird calls
Red green yellow blue,
He looked down the hall of every hue.
Dre found his friend in the café
With half of the school staff.
He saw that his friend was sad
And this made Dre very mad.
Looking for the guy in the fight,
So Dre could try and make things right.
He saw the brute right out the school
He realized the guy was part of the lower end of the gene pool.
He walked up to the guy, who caused the fray,
But truthfully Dre didn’t know what to say.
He than said something extremely dumb,
When he realized what he did he felt like a bum.
Dre was than reproved
And it was in no way smooth
And the guy knocked Dre down like a 1 ton sack of dung.
In the end Dre learned that if you want to survive school
Just don’t act like a big fool.
So just stay out of all the drama
Unless you want to go to the office and call your mama.
Here bygynneth the Prologue of the Battle of the Cliques
Erica H.
Here lies the story of a few very different people,
they come to school for the same thing but all feel
they are not equal.
The battle of the cliques will go down today,
and one of them is going to pay.
The goths, nerds, and jocks are all ready for demolition,
they are preparded with their coalitions.
Lawrence, defender of the nerds stands stalwart,
we'll see how long that lasts.
The intimidating Greg begins to crack his knuckles,
and Lawrence sits down real fast.
Matt of the Goths is ready to fight,
he'll strive for victory with all his might.
Soon they will fight for a lame title,
but really it's just like any other day's recital.
Here bygynneth the The Battle of the Cliques
As the lunch bell rang the students piled in,
today’s contest is “which one of the cliques will win.”
First comes the nerds with Lawrence leading the pack,
they all sit down and begin to eat their snacks.
Then rolls in the jocks with Greg leading the way,
he looks at his buddies and says
“Who are we gonna squash today?”
Next enters the Goths and in front is Matt,
he looks around and yells “What’s everyone looking at?”
A heinous aura surrounds the room,
the battle of the cliques will begin when the clock strikes noon.
The time is near and the cliques show no fear,
for in five minutes everyone in town will know
what happened here.
Greg concocts his ammo with mashed potato and rice,
he knows whoever hits him will surely pay the price.
Matt, the ring leader becomes anxious and grabs his tater tots,
he stands up and shouts “Heed my caveat.”
No sooner than he finishes his speech,
the cliques have had enough,
Greg launches his concoction, wow he’s really tough.
Mashed potato’s land on Lawrence’s face, then go on his plate,
there is a moment of silence then they begin to remonstrate.
Lawrence’s glasses break and the pieces fly sky high,
he tries throwing some of his food and hits Matt in the eye.
Matt says to Lawrence “It’s time to castigate, after school three
o’clock...Don’t be late.”
Lawrence is furious but all he can do is cry,
Greg and Matt think they won but Lawrence’s evil
plan has just been contrived.
The lunch room emptied as fast as the sun setting at dawn,
Not a trace of any cliques, everyone was gone.
All that remained were remnants of lunch,
tater tots, rice, and mashed potato’s were now
huddled in a bunch.
Alone sits the clock on the wall,
waiting for the next free for all.
