- Show pictures of Obama & McCain and ask if they know who these men are? Explain that one of these men will be the next President of the U.S. and give a little background information on them.
- Explain that Obama is running as a Democrat and that the donkey is used as a symbol for the Democratic party and that McCain is running as a Republican and that the elephant is used as a symbol for the Republican party
- Use sounds from http://www.cyberbee.com/nast/index.htm Play the sounds & show pictures of the donkey & elephant. Have students choose their favorite. Ask them if they know what they just did? Explain that they just voted for their favorite.
- Talk about how next Tuesday is election day in the United States and how anyone who is a citizen of the US and over 18 has the right to vote in the election and choose who will become our next president – Barak Obama or John McCain.
