LEG

Cast on 64 st, divide the st. evenly on 4 dpns (16 st per needles), join for working in the round, and be careful not to twist the st.

Work in k3, p1 ribbing for 10 rounds. Then begin chart Osier sock leg pattern.

Note: In round 4, the special cross is worked across 2 needles, so be careful not to change the beginning of the round.

Work 2 pattern repeat (from rnd 1 to 12), then work once from rnd 1 to 7.

Work 63 st from rnd 8, the last purl st will be transferred to the next needle; it will be the first st of the heel.

HEEL

Heel flap will be worked on the next 29 st, back and forth following the osier sock heel flap pattern.

Work from row 1 to 6, 4 times, then once from row 1 to 4, 28 rows worked.

Now you can turn the heel as follow:

Row 1 (RS): slip 1 as if to purl with yarn in front, k18, ssk, k1, turn

Row 2 (WS): p 11, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 3 (RS): k 12, ssk, k1, turn

Row 4 (WS): p 13, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 5 (RS): k 14, ssk, k1, turn

Row 6 (WS): p 15, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 7 (RS): k 16, ssk, k1, turn

Row 8 (WS): p 17, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 9 (RS): k 18, ssk, turn

Row 10 (WS): slip 1 as if to purl with yarn in front, p 17, p2tog, turn

Row 11 (RS): slip 1 as if to knit with yarn in back, k18

Now you are ready to pick-up stitches for gusset.

Pick-up and knit 15 st along left side of the heel flap, work the next 35 instep st keeping the continuity of the pattern, pick-up and knit 15 st along right side of the heel flap, knit the first 10 st of the heel, this is the new beginning of the round.

Gusset

Set-up row:

knit 23 st (9 heel st + 14 gusset st), p1 and transfer it to instep st., work next 35 st in pattern, p1 from the gusset st and transfer it to instep st (37 instep st), knit 24.

Decreasing gusset:

Rnd 1: knit 20 st, k2tog, k1, work 37 instep st following chart Osier sock foot pattern (begin at rnd 9, or where you stop the previous rnd), k1, ssk, k 21.

Rnd 2: knit sole and gusset st, work instep following chart Osier sock foot pattern

Continue working these 2 rounds decreasing 2 st every other rnd, until you reach 64 st in total (27 sole st. and 37 instep st.).

FOOT

Continue working in this manner until you reach 6cm (2.5 inch) less than total desired foot length.

Toe

Set-up row:

Knit one rnd transferring the first 3 st and the last 2 st of the instep to the sole. You have now 16 st on each needle (32 instep st and 32 sole st). Knit to the end of the sole st, the begin of the rnd is now at the begin of the instep stitches.

Rnd 1: on instep st k1, ssk, k to last 3 st (26 st), k2tog, k1; on sole st k1, ssk, knit to 3 last st (26 st), k2tog, k1.

Rnd 2: knit

Repeat these 2 rnd decreasing 4 st each other rnd until it remains 32 st (8 st on each needle), then repeat rnd 1 every rnd until it remains 8 st (2 st on each needle).

FINISHING

Break yarn, with a sewing needle pull through the remaining stitches and weave in ends.

Et voilà.
