My Summer Vacation
By: John Green
Tired of sitting around the pool all summer long? Bored with the Jersey shore? You should spend some time with I and my family
1 each summer. We go to LOUISIANA! No more riding my bike through the steamy, dull streets of New Jersey for me.
Going to Louisiana each summer used to be horrible. I didn't really like spending time with relatives who always told me "You're getting so BIG!". I'd play on my Aunt Sam's back porch most of the day with my little cousins who were always getting into trouble. My mom and dad seemed to enjoy themselves, but I hated it.
Now that I'm older, it's a different story. My cousins have growed up grown up and they're way better now. We're allowed to take the canoe out on the lake by ourselves so we have days full of adventure. When it's cool, we catch white perch and catfish in the murky swamps behind the house. At night, my dad and uncle fry the fish in boiling hot peanut oil. We also eat delicious hush puppies. Hush puppies are globs of dough fried up golden brown.
On the farm, I get to ride on the tractor with my grandfather. He raises beef cattle. There are a few different kinds of cows on the farm.

1 me and my family.I really like the introduction of this story. It makes me feel envious that I don't go to Louisiana in the summer!
