Mr. Cleves
Mr. Cleves’ Mission Statement
To help my students be the best people they can be.
To challenge my students
To help students be better problem solvers using the tools of science and math.
To develop an interest in Science in my students
To prepare my students to handle the rigors of college, and in particular college chemistry
Student expectations.
1. Be on time, be prepared, when the bell rings.
This means being in the classroom with your pencil, paper, calculator, notebook and completed homework.
2. Use your time wisely.
Be attentive and focused on chemistry during class. Chemistry is a hard subject for most students. If you miss a key point early in the year it will come back to haunt you.
Non- chemistry materials (games, CD’s, Spanish homework…etc) run the risk of becoming Mr. Cleves’.
3. Be respectful of others.
Respect is a two way street. If you want people to treat you well, you need to treat others well. If you talk and ignore me during class time, I will ignore you when you need help from me.
Use words like, “please”, “thank you”, and “you’re welcome” often!
4. Home work is due at the start of class.
After the bell rings and before I take roll.
Most days I will stamp homework for completion.
If you have an excused absence, get it stamped the day you return.
Late, lost, copied, or forgotten papers will not be accepted for any credit.
5. Be organized and take good notes.
All students should take lecture notes. These are your tickets to help. No lecture notes, no help from Mr. Cleves!
6. No food or gum allowed in class……period.
Closed top water bottles are the only drink allowed.
7. Turn your cell phones off during class time.
8. Remember your grade is your problem, and yours alone.
If you want it to improve, you need to put the time in. There is no magic thing Mr.Cleves or anyone else can tell you that will magically improve your grade.
