Shalom,
Doesn't it feel simply awful when at a certain part of your day, you suddenly realize, that you didn't have YHWH in your thoughts? Maybe we are focused on work, housework or yard work or recreation. Maybe its situations and circumstances you have just been faced with. Maybe its children, family, brothers and sisters. Regardless what the situation, you suddenly realize how much time can pass without thinking about YHWH? Read this verse with me:
Psa 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after Elohim: Elohim is not in all his thoughts.
Did you know that it is even possible, to be in the Word of YHWH, and still not have YHWH in all our thoughts? That sounds impossible no? What if our sole purpose in reading or studying the Word, was to prove someone else wrong? Each verse we pulled up was simply to show our wisdom on the topic at hand? Not the Giver of the verse, simply the content becomes useful in our arguments. In moments like that, we end up using YHWH's Word as a sword. No, not the sword that YHWH's Word has so often been interpreted to be. Some times we will see or be told that when "the truth hurts" its "just that we don't like YHWH's Sword and are upset because we are in the wrong and cannot face it. (Or something similar) The Word of YHWH is a sword. But never was it given as a sword to us to cut one another apart. The verse is actually for the one reading it.
Heb 4:12 For the word of Elohim is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, (not our neighbours, but our own!!) and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Our heart!)
Back to our thoughts! The Word of YHWH is sharper than a two edged sword, but it can pierce to the dividing asunder of OUR soul and spirit...it discerns OUR thoughts, and...the intents of our hearts.
We need to pray as David did:,
Psa 139:23 Search me, O Elohim, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
As we make that our prayer, and we stop ourselves in whatever we are doing, and ask ourselves..."self" is YHWH in my thoughts?" To have thoughts about YHWH or have YHWH in our thoughts, helping us make any decision we need, praising HIM in every situation is not the same thing. When we ask YHWH to be master of our thoughts, than, YHWH's Word as a Sword can show us, just what the intents of our heart is, whether reading His Word for "our" gain, playing or working or simply resting! As we go about this week, doing the task and callings YHWH has placed upon us, let our thoughts never wander from YHWH. Let us never be as the wicked, who never have YHWH in their thoughts. He is pleased to dwell within us, let us focus on having a clean tabernacle!
