Unity
( YHWH blesses )
Lately my heart has been grieved to see how we as believers and those who claim to love YHWH are so quick to turn on one another for any reason we deem to be just in our own thinking and flesh.
Unity – the dictionary defines it like this:
1. the state of being one; oneness.
2. a whole or totality as combining all its parts into one.
3. the state or fact of being united or combined into one, as of the parts of a whole; unification.
4. absence of diversity; unvaried or uniform character.
5. oneness of mind, feeling, etc., as among a number of persons; concord, harmony, or agreement.
And this is what the Word speaks about unity:
Ephesians 4
4:1 I call upon you therefore, I the prisoner of the Master, to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,
4:2 with all humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
4:3 being eager to guard the unity of the Ruach in the bond of peace –
Those that love YHWH, truly love Him with their whole heart, are then willing prisoners of the Master; that is eager followers of Yahushua, to walk as He walked, to follow His example….again, which is “to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called”.
And with the reminder of the calling that is upon those who love YHWH is how we are to be clothed in this task: “with ALL humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love being eager to guard the unity of the Ruach in the bond of peace”-
4:4 one body and one Spirit, as you also were called
4:5 one Master, one belief, one immersion,
4:6 one Elohim and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
From this, we see in YHWH’s eyes, we are one body. Unity = unit… in Him we are one unit and are to then walk in unity, in harmony together as one in Him and through Him.
The whole chapter of Ephesians 4, speaks of the unity of the Body of believers and what that means in the eyes of YHWH as Yahushua Himself lived and taught.
And to make sure there is understanding of unity, the passage goes on to show what is not being in unity:
4:25 Therefore, having put off the false, speak truth, each one with his neighbour, for we are members of one another.
4:26“Be wroth, but do not sin.” Do not let the sun go down on your rage,
4:27 nor give place to the devil.
4:28 Let him who stole steal no more, but rather let him labour, working with his hands what is good, so that he has somewhat to share with those in need.
4:29 Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth, but only such as is good for the use of building up, so as to impart what is pleasant to the hearers.
4:30 And do not grieve the Set-apart Spirit of Elohim, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and displeasure, and uproar, and slander be put away from you, along with all evil.
4:32 And be kind towards one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as Elohim also forgave you in Messiah.
And this is how treasured unity is.
Psalm 133:
133:1 See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity –
133:2 Like the precious oil on the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aharon, Running down on the collar of his robes –
133:3 Like the dew of Ḥermon, That comes down on the mountains of Tsiyon. For there יהוה commanded the blessing, Life forever!
In YHWH’s eyes, each one of us is as important as the one next to us and is loved as dearly no matter what our place or condition in Him is. And as Yahushua showed by His life and teachings, we are to hold others dear in importance and in love. To do other wise is surely not loving another as ourselves; but, is judging that one to be less than ourselves. That is what happens with gossip and with division of beliefs. It is one thing not to believe exactly as another but it is quite different to then count the difference as being their wrong and thus in reality, less. We are all at different places on the same path. We are brought together to encourage, to extol and to support each other in prayer, word and deed; not to tear down one another as that is what the enemy would have us do because this wounds the Body as a whole.
Jas 4:11 Brothers, do not speak against one another. He that speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against Torah and judges Torah. And if you judge Torah, you are not a doer of Torah but a judge.
Jas 4:12 There is one Lawgiver and Judge, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?
Rom 2:1 Therefore, O man, you are without excuse, everyone who judges, for in which you judge another you condemn yourself, since you who judge practise the same wrongs.
Rom 2:2 And we know that the judgment of Elohim is according to truth against those who practise such wrongs.
As a parent, we love our children even when we are grieved by their behavior and if someone hurts them by word or deed, we become very upset and want to make right that which is wrong. This is but a small glimpse of how YHWH sees each of us. This is how we should view all others in Ruach….with the same love and compassion we have for those we consider dear through our flesh.
(from the teachings of Yahushua:)
Luke 6:35 “Rather, love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting none in return. And your reward shall be great, and you shall be sons of the Most High. Because He is kind to the thankless and wicked ones.
Luke 6:36 “Therefore be compassionate, as your Father also is compassionate.
Luke 6:37 “And do not judge, and you shall not be judged at all. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned at all. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given to you. A good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over shall be put into your lap. For with the same measure with which you measure, it shall be measured back to you.”
We must trust in YHWH to mold each vessel Himself, including the vessel we are to be in Him. This is perhaps the better thing to focus on, our individual walk in Him as we begin to also walk in unity with love for one another. For in love, we then are showered with His Shalom and in helping and loving one another, we help and love ourselves.
