I've Got Your Back 12-8-07

Shabbat Message of

Gen 4:1-16 - And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from YHWH. And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto YHWH. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And YHWH had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And YHWH said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. And YHWH said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. And Cain said unto YHWH, My punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. And YHWH said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And YHWH set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. And Cain went out from the presence of YHWH, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

I've Got Your Back!!

I've got you covered...

Used to stand back to back so that they were invincible!

Am I my brother's keeper?

Gen 4:8-10 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. (9) And YHWH said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? (10) And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

  1. Are we watching over our earthly brothers & sisters?

  2. Are we covering each other's back? Or are we too busy backbiting? Jealous? Angry?

  3. Or is their Spiritual blood (lifeforce) crying out to YHWH against us?

We are ALL created in YHWH's image.. after HIS likeness.... (Gen 1:26-28 here)

  1. YHWSHUA understood the "universal brotherhood" of all men...

  2. Who is my neighbor??

Luk 10:25-37 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (26) He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? (27) And he answering said, Thou shalt love YHWH thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. (28) And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. (29) But he, willing to justify himself, said unto YHWSHUA, And who is my neighbor? (30) And YHWSHUA answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. (31) And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. (32) And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. (33) But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, (34) And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. (35) And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. (36) Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves? (37) And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said YHWSHUA unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

  1. Notice that this is an explanation of Eternal Life!!!

Mat 22:36-40 - Master, which is the great commandment in the law? YHWSHUA said unto him, Thou shalt love YHWH thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am YHWH.

Zec 8:17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith YHWH.

Mat 19:16-19 - And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, YHWH: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? YHWSHUA said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (Huh? This isn't in the 10)

Mar 12:33 And to love YHWH with all the heart and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Rom 13:9-10 - For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Lev 19:34 - But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am YHWH your Elohim.

When we hear this great Truth do we also try to justify ourselves for our "Lack of Love?"

"Greater love has no man than this.. that a man lay down his life for his brother!"

You just don't know what they have done...

They aren't my neighbor (not my nationality, my race, my religion, etc)

Job 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me:

Luk 16:15 - And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but YHWH knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of YHWH.

Luk 18:9-11 - And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, YHWH, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

Rom 10:2-3 - For I bear them record that they have a zeal of YHWH, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of YHWH's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of YHWH.

Jas 2:24 - Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. (Works of the Law of Love which is manifest through our compassion one to another!)

Or is our life filled with compassion on all of YHWH's creatures?

Psa 78:38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

Psa 86:15 But thou, O YHWH, art a Elohim full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Psa 111:4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: YHWH is gracious and full of compassion.

Psa 145:8 YHWH is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

Mic 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Luk 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Mat 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Mat 14:14 And YHWSHUA went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Mat 18:27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. Mat 18:33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee?

Mar 5:19 Howbeit YHWSHUA suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things YHWH hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee

Luk 7:13 And when the Master saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

Heb 5:2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

1Pe 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of YHWH in him?

  1. Give crumbs to the dogs (HE is teaching a Spiritual lesson here.. not condemning the woman !!!!!!!!!!!!! "Joh 3:17 For YHWH sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ...")

  2. YHWSHUA said: Truly, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me!!

  3. Compassion is deep within each of us!

  4. But our mind & ego has created suffering for ourselves as well as passing judgment about life

  5. So it becomes difficult to see things the way they really are!

There is an old saying: “The only difference between a flower and a weed is a judgment.”

Compassion is the attempt to suspend judgment about a person or a situation.

Empathy Exercise

Think about the poor, the downcast, the undesirable, People you would call 'Evil'.... Put yourself in their place for a few minutes. How do they feel? How do things look from their perspective? Can you identify WHY they do what they do by putting yourself in their place?

Can you have compassion on them now? Love is ALL there is... and we need to understand that as YHWH's creation.. we are all ONE!

  1. YHWH is Love...

  2. We are created in YHWH's image...

  3. The reason we're here on this earth is to wake up and remember WHO we are!

  4. We are literally sons and daughters of YHWH!

  5. Are we pure love?

  6. Stop judging one another and be moved with Love and Compassion!

1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Are we walking in Love or Fear? (False Evidence Appearing Real) Love and fear are diametrically opposed!!! You can't experience both at the same time.

1 Jn 4:18 - There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out fear...

Caring For One Another

One a hand Another a Foot

1Co 12:12-25 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Messiah. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

But now hath YHWH set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but YHWH hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

Num 10:32 And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness YHWH shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.

Ecc 4:10-12 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

1Co 1:10-12 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Master YHWSHUA Messiah, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Messiah.

Love enemies - People are either seeking love or giving love!

Mat 5:43-48 - Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Rom 11:28 - As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

We need to see that people are not some evil creatures, but fellow human-beings struggling with their own issues, weaknesses and fears.

If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each one’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Mother Teresa was asked how could she deal with the misery and wretchedness humanity every day? She said, “I see The Beloved in each face I look at. I see The Beloved in the face of the abandoned child in the street. I see The Beloved in the face of the dying person in the gutter. How could I do other than help and love The Beloved.” Dear friends, you are The Beloved. Your neighbor is The Beloved, your friend, parent, child, sibling is The Beloved. And, oh by the way, your enemy is The Beloved too.

Do we see YHWSHUA in each person's life that we deal with every day? Are we treating them as we would treat HIM? (As we do to the least of these....)

Have we "got one another's back?" Or are we stabbing each other in the back?
