Pro 15:1-33

(1) A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

(2) The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

(3) The eyes of YHWH are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

(4) A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

(5) A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

(6) In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

(7) The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

(8) The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to YHWH: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

(9) The way of the wicked is an abomination unto YHWH: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

(10) Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

(11) Hell and destruction are before YHWH: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

(12) A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

(13) A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

(14) The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

(15) All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

(16) Better is little with the fear of YHWH than great treasure and trouble therewith.

(17) Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

(18) A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

(19) The way of the slothful man is as a hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

(20) A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

(21) Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

(22) Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.

(23) A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

(24) The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

(25) YHWH will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

(26) The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to YHWH: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

(27) He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

(28) The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

(29) YHWH is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

(30) The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.

(31) The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

(32) He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

(33) The fear of YHWH is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.

(10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

(11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

(12) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Anger is one of the most vile tools that the enemy uses

Keeps YHWH's people separated and in division...

Pro 30:33 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.

Remember: Mat 12:25 And YHWSHUA knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand...

  1. Anger is a negative emotion born of ignorance, ego, & greed...

  2. It's brought on by a real or imaginary injury...

  3. From an idea of evil having been threatened or done to us

Pro 15:1-2

(1) A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

(2) The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

...and looks for retaliation... to obtain revenge against the one who "hurt us"!

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith YHWH.

"The fire you kindle for your enemy burns yourself."

When anger comes up in our heart we need to think about what the consequenses will be!!

  1. We generally get angry over things that really aren't important! Insignificant things...

  2. Most anger comes from attachments in our lives...

-Things

- People

- Attitudes

- Reputation!

  1. When our desires aren't fulfilled we get angry!

  2. We become emotional and impulsive..

  3. We say things we don't really mean

  4. We strike out verbally and physically

  5. We literally become drunk with the anger and lose control over our self!

This is a serious weakness and flaw in our spirit man that must be corrected if we are to become Manifested Sons of YHWH.

Anger is the epitome of selfishness!

  1. It hurts everyone that is around...

  2. Everyone becomes it's victim...

  3. Not only the one the anger is directed toward, but the one who is angry also...

  4. It even manifests in the Spiritual realm!

Eph 4:26-32

(26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

(27) Neither give place to the devil.

(28) Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

(29) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

(30) And grieve not the Holy Spirit of YHWH, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

(31) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

(32) And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as YHWH for Messiah's sake hath forgiven you.

It causes us to have uncontrollable violence (actions, words, or thoughts!)

We do things we would never do under normal circumstances:

  1. Injustice

  2. Rashness

  3. Persecution

  4. Jealousy

  5. Stealing

  6. Killing

  7. Harsh words.

Anger really takes place in the soul of a man and then works it's way into the flesh realm! Anger on the outside shows something wrong on the inside!

Pro 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

It releases poisons into the body which cause disease in our lives - headaches, heart disease, ulcers, nervous disorders, etc! It literally takes months for our nervous system to get back to normal!

Ecc 5:17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.

Anger manifests in many different ways depending on the degree of anger: Irritation, frowning, frustration, resentment, bitterness, indignation, fury, rage... But it is all anger!!!! And it is all equally destructive!

After we are upset.. we realize our anger!! THEN we think about what we have done... we feel bad, we get angry with ourselves for getting angry! If we thought about it BEFORE we got angry, we would have been able to control it!

We need to extinguish anger and manifest Spiritual Strength...

If we can learn to control anger it will result in far greater Spiritual energy in our lives. We have to keep a balanced mind and get rid of passions in our lives in order to control this anger.

Psa 78:38-39

(38) But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

(39) For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

Learning to control our anger will bring great joy & peace in our lives... We must work with all of our hearts to rid our lives of this spirit sickness!

Pro 12:16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

Pro 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Pro 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

  1. In order to overcome anger we need to rid our self of "self" (ego)...

Pro 21:23-24

(23) Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

(24) Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

Pro 27:3-4 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both. Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

  1. Control our lusts & passions

Jas 4:1-3

(1) From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

(2) Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

(3) Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

  1. Focus on loving others with the love of YHWH!

Pro 15:17-18

(17) Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

(18) A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

1Jn 4:7-11

(7) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of YHWH; and every one that loveth is born of YHWH, and knoweth YHWH.

(8) He that loveth not knoweth not YHWH; for YHWH is love.

(9) In this was manifested the love of YHWH toward us, because that YHWH sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

(10) Herein is love, not that we loved YHWH, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

(11) Beloved, if YHWH so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

  1. One of the first ways to overcome anger is through genuine forgiveness!

Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Be careful who we hang around!

"Bad company corrupts good morals"

Pro 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of YHWH.

Col 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Since anger manifests in stages

  1. We need to become aware of the 1st stages quickly

  2. Once it has set root it is too late

  3. So when we feel the least bit irritated we need to gain control!

- Keep Silent (Inner & Outer) When you DO speak use gentle & kind words...

Pro 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Jas 3:6-8

(6) And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

(7) For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

(8) But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Psa 57:4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

- Leave the scene of the anger

- Take a walk

- Drink a glass of cold water

- Pray - 1Ti 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

- Count from 1-10

- Say "Peace" over and over to yourself (Shalom if you have to speak Hebrew). Speak peace into the situation and into yourself!

Isolate the cause of your anger and get rid of it!

Does it bother you that someone calls you a dunce? Does a cap suddenly appear on your head? But he called me a Pig? Do you all of the sudden have a curly tail and big ears? Can people really change who we are by their words? (sticks and stones...)

In essence they are trying to hurt us with words... but YHWSHUA told us to be patient with them.

Matt 5: 11-12 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (12) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you

Does it really matter that you didn't get your way? Will it matter in 10 mins? 2 Weeks? A year from now? 5 years from now?

Psa 37:7-9

(7) Rest in YHWH, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

(8) Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

(9) For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon YHWH, they shall inherit the earth.

Become insensitive to the thoughts of anger!

Stop focusing on these things... (we become what we continually Think & Meditate on)

Stop thinking on them until you burst with anger...

Let them pass without taking action on them.

Pro 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

We need to know who we really are and focus on it...

Are we body? Or Spirit? Why let these little things bother us so much? "Don't sweat the small stuff"

Ecc 7:9

(9) Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Gal 5:18-21

(18) But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

(19) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

(20) Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

(21) Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of YHWH.

Conclusion

Col 3:8-10

(8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

(9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

(10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Jas 1:19-21

(19) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

(20) For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of YHWH.

(21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
