Man’s Love Versus YHWH’s Love
(YHWH Blesses)
The Word speaks a lot about love and surely mankind looks and strives for love. Most are familiar with what love is:
1Co 13:4 Love is patient, is kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 does not behave indecently, does not seek its own, is not provoked, reckons not the evil,
1Co 13:6 does not rejoice over the unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth,
1Co 13:7 it covers all, believes all, expects all, endures all.
This is what we look for in others; this is who we love. We love those who are kind, do not envy, do not boast, are not puffed up (conceited). We love those who do not behave indecently (who are not profane), those that do not put themselves above others, those who are not easily provoked. We love those who do not return evil for good or even evil for evil. We love those that do not rejoice in things unrighteous; we love those that are truthful. For these things are easy to love and attract us and we know this is how we too should be and we say we strive for this; but, then we also say….”nobody’s perfect” :) which is our excuse when we do not measure up to the ideals that we look for and love in others.
In truth, the ones that have the kind of love of 1 Corinthians 13, have that love for all and not for only those that give (or return) such love given to them first. And in truth, this is the love we are commanded to have for all others. In truth, we are to be concerned for others as much as we are concerned with our own well being.
Luk 6:27 “But I say to you who are hearing: Love your enemies, do good to those hating you.
Luk 6:28 “Bless those cursing you, and pray for those insulting you.
Luk 6:29 “And to him who hits you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your outer garment, do not withhold the inner garment either.
Luk 6:30 “And give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away what is yours do not ask it back.
Luk 6:31 “And as you wish men should do to you, you also do to them in the same way.
Luk 6:32 “And if you love those loving you, what favour have you? For sinners, too, love those loving them.
Luk 6:33 “And if you do good to those doing good to you, what favour have you? For even sinners do the same.
Luk 6:34 “And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive back, what favour have you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back.
Luk 6:35 “Rather, love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting none in return. And your reward shall be great, and you shall be sons of the Most High. Because He is kind to the thankless and wicked ones.1 Footnote: 1Mt. 5:45, Acts 14:16-17.
Luk 6:36 “Therefore be compassionate, as your Father also is compassionate.
Again, we see the above as ideals to strive for rather than that truth to live daily. For our flesh cries out when we are wronged rather than “turning the other cheek” and rather than being able to love that person i.e. see that one without malice in return, without any hard feelings towards them or to “seek our own” but to be kind and compassionate in return just as we would to the one who was kind to us.
1Jn 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that Elohim has for us. Elohim is love, and he who stays in love stays in Elohim, and Elohim in him.
1Jn 4:17 By this love has been perfected with us, in order that we might have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear holds punishment, and he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us.
1Jn 4:20 If someone says, “I love Elohim,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For the one not loving his brother whom he has seen, how is he able to love Elohim whom he has not seen?
1Jn 4:21 And we have this command from Him, that the one loving Elohim should love his brother too.
Those that truly love YHWH, will love as He loves.
The scriptures I have shared, are those we are so familiar with and often read in rote. How often do we measure these scriptures to ourselves, to our hearts as a mirror so that we may see our love in reality compared to YHWH’s love in truth?
May I today truly reflect the love of YHWH to all others for all are my brothers (and sisters).
HalleluYAH. May it be so.
