Mrs. Teeter              Room 201                lornat@provo.edu

Students will explore and understand a variety of art styles through hands-on experiences and activities.  They will make art and crafts based on historical art ideas.  This class can be fun, interesting, and students will learn a lot too.  No previous art experience is necessary.

ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LEARNING.
MAKE A GOAL to do all of your assignments well, and the desired grade will follow. Students will focus on building skills related to the Provo School District Standards.

ATTENDANCE
: Students need to be in class and on time. When students are absent, they miss valuable instruction, discussion, and interaction. It is the responsibility of the student to get the assignments for the days missed (talk to your “Study Buddy”, check PowerGrade, check the class planner, contact your teacher).
Students can get additional help by making arrangements with the teacher or staying after school for help during "Power Hour."

ASSIGNMENTS
: All assignments are due on time. In the unlikely event an assignment may be late, it has the consequence of lowering your grade unless special arrangements have been made with the individual teacher. Late work and projects may not receive full credit.

GRADING: Students will be assessed on daily participation, class notes, critiques, projects, quizzes, and tests. Grades will be determined by total assignments or points possible each TERM based on the following percentage scale:

93-100 = A        77-79 = C+
90-92 = A-        73-76 = C
87-89 = B+        70-72 = C-
83-86 = B            0-69 = I

80-82 = B-           Below C- is Insufficient Effort and earns no credit.

POWER SCHOOL: You or your student can check grades and attendance from any computer with Internet access. 1) Go to www.dms.provo.edu. 2) Click PowerSchool. 3) Type in the username (student number), and the password (the student’s birthday with slashes i.e. 3/5/97).

PARENTS:  Please know that you welcome in our classroom anytime to observe or assist individual students.

CITIZENSHIP: Our classroom houses a small society. Each student is a citizen with expected standards of behavior. With this in mind, rewards are not given for expected behavior, and irresponsible behavior is seen as an opportunity for growth, rather than punishment. Students use self-discipline, reflection, and self-evaluation to learn to control their own behavior. We want our classroom to be encouraging and conducive to learning. In this way, young people develop positive attitudes and behavior skills that are necessary for successful lives. All students begin each term with satisfactory citizenship and may move up or down by the behavior they choose.  Please remember:  "Just be nice!"
