SSI Program Facilitator

Position Description:
The Student Sustainability Initiative (SSI) Program Facilitator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing SSI staff, the Student Sustainability Center (SSC), and all SSI activities. He/she will be an employee of the SSI and will work with other SSI staff, ASOSU Director of Environmental Affairs and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Further SSI's mission
- OSU Community
- Cooperate with the ASOSU Director of Environmental Affairs to help teach the Student Leadership in Sustainability class and manage interns
- Sit on the SSI fee board (as a nonvoting member)
- Work with grant recipients to plan and implement projects
- Help coordinate with OSU departments around sustainability projects
- Link SSI to the greater Corvallis Community
- Report to the SSI Faculty Advisor
- Recruit students to the Student Leadership in Sustainability ALS class
- Cooperate with the ASOSU Director of Environmental Affairs to help teach the Student Leadership in Sustainability ALS class
- Collaborate with Campus Recycling, Business Services, ASOSU, and others in the planning of Earth Week activities
- Manage SSI Staff
- Lead staff meetings and hold one-on-one meetings with each staff member
- Facilitate communication among staff and settle staff disputes if necessary
- Plan and coordinate the hiring process for the subsequent year
- Recruit and train potential future staff of SSI
- Provide assistance and direction to SSI staff (see other SSI job descriptions for more info)
- Cooperate with the Visibility Coordinator on SSI projects, events, and visibility
- Cooperate with the SSI Transportation Systems Coordinator about the Bike Coop Budget
- Manage SSC
- Create staffing schedules each term
- Delegate maintenance and cleaning tasks to staff and occasionally perform these tasks with staff
- Keep SSC supplies in stock
- Hold regular office hours at the SSC
- Track the annual SSI budget and expenses
- Help to create an environment in which student sustainability projects succeed
- Work approximately 20 hours/week June 2009 – June 2010
Qualifications:
The SSI Program Facilitator will have:

- Attend Sierra Student Coalition's Environmental Leadership Training, "SPROG", or the equivalent (Which SSI will provide funding to attend during the summer before start date)
Employment Dates & Wages:
Preferred start date is week of June 15, but applicants available to start the week of Sept 28 will also be considered. Duration: summer of 2009 and/or 2009-10 academic year. The employee will start at $8.75 per hour.

Applicants must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher, be enrolled in at least 6 credits at OSU during the employment period, and must not be on academic probation.
