OSU Student Sustainability Initiative

Position Description:

 

Responsibilities:

• Further SSI's mission
• OSU Community
  
  • Help coordinate with OSU departments around sustainability projects
  • Link SSI to the greater Corvallis Community
  • Report to the SSI Faculty Advisor
  • Table at the START events during the summer to encourage students to get involved with SSI
    
• Manage SSI Staff
  • Lead staff meetings and hold one-on-one meetings with each staff member
  • Facilitate communication among staff and settle staff disputes if necessary
  • Provide assistance and direction to SSI staff (see other SSI job descriptions for more info)
• Manage SSC
  • Create staffing schedules each term
  • Delegate maintenance and cleaning tasks to staff and occasionally perform these tasks with staff
  • Keep SSC supplies in stock
  • Hold regular office hours at the SSC
  • Track the annual SSI budget and expenses

• Help to create an environment in which student sustainability projects succeed
  
• Work at 20-30 hours/week June 2009 – September 2009

The SSI Program Facilitator will have:

  • Be aware of different approaches to creating sustainable campus communities
• Attend Sierra Student Coalition's Environmental Leadership Training, "SPROG", or the equivalent (Which SSI will provide funding to attend during the summer before start)
  

 

Employment Dates & Wages:

Start date: week of June. 15, 2009. Duration: June to September.  The employee will start at $8.75 per hour.

Applicants must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher and must not be on academic probation.  The employee is expected to affirm and uphold University policies that help create and maintain a welcoming and equal opportunity campus. Additional Information:*

In the cover letter, please describe some potential projects that you would be willing to work on to benefit the SSI.  Perhaps this would be an improvement to the garden, a rain catchment project, basement improvement, window improvement, etc.  Having a handyman can do attitude would be beneficial but not necessary.
