Position Description:
The Landscape Project Coordinator will be responsible for actively participating in landscape projects that engage students with the various institutions of the OSU community to make them more sustainable. He/she will be an employee of the SSI, receiving direction and supervision from the SSI Program Facilitator, and the ASOSU Environmental Affairs Task Force Director. He/she will work with other SSI staff in the Student Sustainability Center (SSC).
Responsibilities:
- Help students run and facilitate meetings

Be a liaison between the SSI and student groups, OSU departments, and community groups (e.g. Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture, Organic Growers Club, OSU Landscape Shop, Benton Soil & Water Conservation District, Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, etc)
- Update or bottom line updating the Landscape Eco-wiki pages
- Engage students in sustainability activities
- Projects
- Events
- Campaigns
- Other activities
- Help develop a sense of identity for students within the SSI
- Further SSI's mission
- Recruit and train potential future staff of SSI
- Hold regular office hours at the SSC
- Regularly meet with the SSI Coordinator
- Attend staff meetings as requested
- Attend and recruit for the Student Leadership in Sustainability ALS class
- Develop and maintain partnerships between individuals, organizations and SSI
- Link students with resources, contacts and skills to assist in the success of their projects
- Bottom line upgrades and maintenance of SSC grounds
- Bottom line the compost system at the SSC
- Cooperate with the Waste Reduction and Food Systems Coordinator to manage the compost system at the SSC
- Work 10-15 hours/week during the 2009-10 academic year
Qualifications
The Landscape Project Coordinator will have

- Attended Sierra Student Coalition's Environmental Leadership Training, "SPROG", or the equivalent (Which SSI will provide funding to attend during the summer before start date)
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Have an understanding of sustainable land use practices
- Be aware of different approaches to creating Permaculture systems
Employment Dates & Wages:
Start date: week of Sept. 28, 2009. Duration: 2009-10 academic year. The employee will start at $8.40 per hour.

Applicants must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher, be enrolled in at least 6 credits at OSU during the employment period, and must not be on academic probation.
