Energy Project CoordinatorOSU Student Sustainability Initiative

Position Description:
The Energy Project Coordinator will be responsible for actively participating in energy projects that engage students with the various institutions/departments of the OSU community to make them more sustainable and efficient. He/she will be an employee of the SSI, receiving direction and supervision from the SSI Program Facilitator and the ASOSU Environmental Affairs Task Force Director. He/she will work with other SSI staff in the Student Sustainability Center (SSC).
Responsibilities:
- Help students run and facilitate meetings
Be a liaison between the SSI and student groups, OSU departments, and community groups (e.g. OSU Sustainability Office, OSU Energy Efficiency Center, Sustainable Energy Initiative, OSU Hydrogen Group, Energy Trust, Resource Efficiency Program, Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, etc)
- Update or bottom line updating the Energy Eco-wiki pages
- Engage students in sustainability activities
- Projects
- Events
- Campaigns
- Other activities
- Help develop a sense of identity for students within the SSI
- Further SSI's mission
- Recruit and train potential future staff of SSI
- Hold regular office hours at the SSC
- Regularly meet with the SSI Coordinator
- Attend staff meetings as requested
- Attend and recruit for the Student Leadership in Sustainability ALS class
- Develop and maintain partnerships between individuals, organizations and SSI
- Link students with resources, contacts and skills to assist in the success of their projects
- Bottom line projects to make the SSC energy positive (see website for more details)
- Cooperate with the Energy Efficiency Center, the Sustainability Office, and the SSI Fee Committee to manage projects that are involved with the Revolving Loan Fund
- Working 10-15 hours/week during the 2009-10 academic year
QualificationsThe Energy Project Coordinator will have
- Project planning experience

- Attend Sierra Student Coalition's Environmental Leadership Training, "SPROG", or the equivalent (Which SSI will provide funding to attend during the summer before start date)
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Have an understanding of renewable and efficient energy use
- Be aware of different approaches to creating sustainable energy systems
Employment Dates & Wages:
Start date: week of Sept. 28, 2009. Duration: 2009-10 academic year. The employee will start at $8.40 per hour.

Applicants must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher, be enrolled in at least 6 credits at OSU during the employment period, and must not be on academic probation.
