Communications from DMN

Welcome Aboard - December 4, 2006

This is Communications from DMN for the week of December 4, 2006.
Aaron
I'm Aaron Davis.
Scott
And I'm Scott Nesbitt. Thanks for joining us and welcome to our first podcast.
Aaron Together, Scott and I are DMN Communications, a technical writing consultancy based in Toronto, Canada.

We're glad you could join us and we're excited to be podcasting Communications from DMN for the first time. Today we're going to talk a little bit about our regular series of podcasts that we will be releasing on our blog and what you can expect to hear in the coming weeks.

Scott Our podcast is aimed at people in the technical communications field. In future podcasts, we'll be presenting tips, information, and reviews of software, books, and Web sites that we find interesting and useful, and hope you will too.

We know you're busy, so we plan to keep the podcast short -- five to eight minutes every week. The podcasts reflect DMN's technical writing philosophy -- keeping things short, but packing that space with information that you can use.

Aaron That's right.  We want to keep this blog fun, informative, and upbeat. In the coming weeks, we'll be discussing trends in technical communications, technologies such as XML and DITA, and how you can really demonstrate value to your client or organization as a technical communicator. We are also going to be adding regular weekly features including tips and tricks, product reviews, pros and cons, and a new segment we're thinking of calling document of the week.
Scott
If you miss a week's podcast, no problem - we will be archiving our podcasts on our blog regularly. Download and listen to them whenever you want. Links to transcripts will be posted immediately following the podcast.
Aaron Join us next week for a look at how we collaborated on a project using an online tool called Basecamp.

Thanks for listening. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for future podcasts drop us a line at podcast@dmncommunications.com. And don't forget to visit our Web site (www.dmncommunications.com) and our blog (www.dmncommunications.com/weblog).

Have a good week.
