CURATORIAL STATEMENT ON COLLECTIONS
|
The many objects in our anthropology collections are like emeralds, six-sided crystals of gemstone quality:
-
They are evidence plainly showing what it can mean to be human.
-
They serve as authentic historical benchmarks.
-
They can be information lodestones.
-
They are material witness to our diversity.
-
For some, they are sacred resources of history, tradition, and being.
-
For all of us, they can serve as tangible ways of connecting with one another.
